After being put into bat by Essex, Hampshire opener's got off to a solid start as the duo of Ben McDermott and James Vince put up 97 runs for the first wicket. Tom Prest and James Vince made 41 runs each and on the back of Ben McDermott 64, Hampshire were able to post a above par score of 181.
Shane Snater and Paul Walter chipped in with 2 wickets apiece.
Chasing 182, Essex lost 4 quick wickets in the powerplay, as their power-packed top order couldn't give a solid start for their team. Essex were reeling behind when Luc Benkenstein and Charles Allison put up a remarkable 84 run stand in quick succession to brought their side back into the game.
But some brilliant death bowling by Chris Wood and John Andrew Turner turned the tides towards Hampshire and helped them get over the line.
John Turner was the star bowler for his team as he completed with the figures of 23 for 4 in his quota of 4 overs.
