For now, this is Saptak Sanyal, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Karthik Raj and the scorer/analyst of this game Zeeshan Naiyer.
Tomorrow, we will have another double-header. Australia Champions will lock horns with Pakistan Champions in the first game, starting from 5 PM IST (3:30 PM Local Time). In the second game tomorrow, England Champions will return to take on Bangladesh Champions. The first ball will be bowled at 9 PM IST (7:30 PM Local Time). Do join us for those games.
It marks the end of the Sunday double-header of the WCL 2026. In the second game, England Champions defeated India Champions by 21 runs to start their campaign with a victory.
Harbhajan Singh (India Champions Captain): "(The partnership between Bopara and Samit took the game away from you) I think they batted really well to be honest. Of course not taking any credit away from them. I think we could have bowled better than how we bowled today. The last six overs could have been better. One partnership could have changed things, but we had back to back games. Bodies were sore and we hope to turn things around in the next game.

(Mohit and Yuvraj Singh missed out. Hope they get fit before next game) Both are fit. Yuvraj you see batted really well last day. Having him in the middle order is a huge huge boost for the team. He is one of the guys who looked in his best form. To not have him today was a loss. Mohit Sharma is a dependable bowler. You give him the first over or the 20th over, you know he is going to deliver it. In games like these, tournaments like these, you have to keep the morale high and look forward. We are really looking forward for the upcoming game against South Africa to turn things around.

(A bit stiff for yourself after back to back games) Yeah I am tired. We are in mid 40s and of course it is not easy. Looking fit is different, but feeling fit is different thing. It is very humid today, yesterday there was a lot of wind. No complaint as I said. We will try to put up a better show. We will comeback better prepared."
Ravi Bopara (Player of the Match & England Champions Captain): [on the match] "It was a fantastic effort from the bowlers. We've only flown in a couple of days ago. Toby got in last night. To put that effort in this heat, this much sweat is a great effort.

[on his batting] I did not enjoy batting on that wicket. Felt like it was really tough to start with. Ball wasn't quite coming on and we were quite short on batting today with a couple of guys pulling off. We tried to take it deep and it worked out.

[on the chat with Samit] The plan is still to be aggressive in T20 cricket. If you're not aggressive then you're going to struggle as a batter and it was hard there to just play proper shots and get it through the infield. The plan was always to stay aggressive, pick our bowlers and once we are in, I felt like we can put our foot down.

[on the chat with bowlers] The chat was to stick to Test match length. That was the hardest on this wicket. It was a bit of movement both ways, a little bit of variation in bounce and pace. Toby's just got off a flight and it was his first over. He didn't quite get it right but he came back really well. Picked up a couple of wickets in the next couple of overs. The way they took the wickets won us the game.

[on Sidebottom bowling on the trot] It was definitely a conscious effort to bowl 3 because he was bowling so well. He was moving the ball around so bowled him his 3 overs and then at that point, I didn't feel like it was a good idea to rest him and bring him back later. I just said 'look, you're in good flow right now, so just keep going, finish your overs and we'll worry about the rest after that'."
