So, that's all for the coverage of this ODI series. As usual it was a pleasure bringing you all the live updates from this tour. Till the next time, it's a ta-ta and and a goodbye from me, Anurag Dasgupta and my co-commentators, Arjun Bhalla and Akshay Bhide.
Morgan collects the trophy and the celebrations begin!!!
Eoin Morgan: We were dominant today, and we were delighted as we were ruthless. That has been the trend in the T20Is and ODIs, the guys haven't taken things for granted. The guys were willing to show character and fight. As a team we don't want to stand still and Willey has continued to add to his game. He has bowled really well, but he was very unlucky in the last game. Today he managed to take four wickets. In the last two games he has nailed his lengths and taken advantage. We are in a privileged position with the talent in our side. We need to focus on our death bowling and certainly need to be more consistent in the middle overs. Those are the two areas we need to make improvements before the World Cup. Pakistan are really competitive, so we need to improve our game against them.
Kusal Perera: It's a tough tour for us. We performed well in patches but it wasn't enough. We need to concentrate on our batting. The boys have to trust their ability and need to express themselves and that's the only way to move forward. Lot of positives for us but we need to be consistent.
David Willey, Player of the Series: I think the white balls this year have swung a lot more, even in domestic cricket. I am pretty realistic, but it's great to be back involved with the team. I have enjoyed every game with England, it's very special.
DG: Sri Lanka were bundled out for a mere 166 on the board, before the rain god decided to show up and saved Sri Lanka from an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the World Champions.
DG: Earlier in the day, England won the toss and Eoin Morgan decided to field first under overcast conditions. And just like the previous two games, Sri Lanka were bundled out for a low score. The two openers came out with a positive intent and took on the England bowlers right from the word go. But the lightning struck in the form of Willey and Woakes, as the duo ripped apart the Lankan top-order inside the first 10 overs. Tom Curran, who went wicket-less in the previous ODI, came back strongly in the game and was the chief destroyer with the ball, scalping 4 wickets and agonised the Sri Lankan middle order with his variations. Sri Lanka never settled in properly and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Dasun Shanaka provided some much needed resistance, as the wily player top-scored with an unbeaten 48, but didn't quite get the support from the other end.
DG: Just what we feared, the inevitable has happened and the final ODI game has been abandoned, thanks to some relentless rain. The weather god showing some mercy to the Lankan Lions. With that, England have won the series 2-0, and were well on their course for a clean sweep, but the weather god had some other plans. Congratulations to Eoin Morgan and his troops who were simply outstanding in all three ODI matches of the series.
Poor news coming up. I'm sorry to report that but the match has been abandoned.
Update, 8:37 IST | The rain is heavy and is in no mood to stop at the moment. That could be it for the day. We'll be back shortly with the further updates.
