Milestone
We hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we did bringing it to you. Time for Darpan Tikiya to sign off on the behalf of Manan Mehta, Ninaad Dixit, Sahil Khan and Aman. Keep following CREX for more cricketing action from around the world! Cheerio!
Meanwhile, Harry Brook his currently the talk of the town, rightly so. But lest you forget, tonight Jos Buttler achieved a significant milestone. He went past Rohit Sharma to become the 2nd on the list of highest T20I run-getters of all time. If those two keep batting the way they are, plenty more records will be shattered in the upcoming two matches.
Fun fact: Sri Lanka have not beaten England in a T20I since 2014. And if things continue this way, that record might not change soon. Tonight, the visitors were battered, bruised.... mauled. Now, they have to pick themselves up and be ready to fight back in less than 48 hours time. The 2nd T20I, which will be played in Cardiff on September 17, is a must-win for them to save the series.
Harry Brook (England captain): "[His thoughts on the performance] Exceptional performance, and I am very proud of the way the boys went about every aspect of the game there tonight.

[On Sonny Baker] He's been bowling extremely well, and he deserved his opportunity tonight with Jofra (Archer) missing out. To bowl three overs in the powerplay is never an easy task, and I think he went for eight runs off his three overs and bagged a couple of wickets in there as well. So I thought he had an amazing night tonight.

[On quick turnaround after the Test series against Pakistan] It is not the ideal schedule. If the game (3rd Test vs Pakistan) would have gone all the way, we would have had one day in between. But we managed to get a couple of training days in and mentally prepare for this game and this series. So, thankfully that Test match finished early and we could get down here slightly earlier.

[On his love affair with this venue] I don't know, to be honest. Every time we've got a decent score, Jos (Buttler) has been there as well, and he's always been an amazing player for England, and he feels like he's just starting to hit his straps again and play some really good cricket. So that's really nice to see. And one thing that we've spoken about a lot is running twos, and I think there was 22 twos today, which is a phenomenal effort from everybody out there. So that's something to be really proud of as well.

[Room for improvement] I thought we had an amazing night tonight. Communication once again was outstanding. If we're being ultra-critical, we could probably get a few more runs here and there, take earlier wickets, but I thought the performance tonight was near perfect, and the communication once again from the changing room out onto the field was very good."

Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain): "[Was it wrong to bowl first?] I would have still done the same thing. It was a tough day out here for us. Credit firstly goes to Harry Brook and Jos Buttler for their exceptional innings and at the same time I think we missed our plans and execution.

[Positives from this game] From my perspective, positive wise there wasn't much for me. When you are playing with these guys, they have been playing some good cricket recently so, all three departments must be spot on.

[On the way the pitch played] Actually, I did not think about the score being so high. Of course, we know that there are always high scoring venues in England."
