Sri Lanka will have to regroup and assess their mistakes from these games. One persistent issue in both games has been their middle order failure. Their openers did better, but the rest of the batters could not capitalize on the start and that led them to finish with a below par total. In bowling, their pacers must look to get their lines correct. They bowled plenty of wides to concede runs and the English batters dispatched a few erratic deliveries easily. The first T20I match is in about 48 hours of time. These mistakes might haunt them big time there.

10:43 PM IST and 6:13 PM Local Time: England A have completed a thumping victory over Sri Lanka. The run chase was curtailed twice and eventually, the hosts have won the game by 9 wickets in the DLS method. They chased down the 73-run target adjusted as per DLS in just 6.2 overs.

England A won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara added 38 runs in 21 balls in their stand before Nissanka was dismissed for 23. Kamil Mishara continued his hitting and took the team score to 70/1 after the end of the powerplay. England decided to bring in their spinners and that paid immediate reward as Mishara fell to Mason Crane, scoring 31 off 18 balls. Mason Crane, James Coles and Tom Hartley operated in tandem and the entire Sri Lankan middle order crumbled in front of them. Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Janith Liyanage- all of them failed to score big.

Charith Asalanka played out that vulnerable middle over phase but perished to Henry Crocombe. But Tharindu Ratnayake showed his power hitting prowess as his cameo of 22 runs off 12 balls helped Sri Lanka to go over the 150-run mark and they finished with 156/9 in their 20 overs.

For England A, bowlers of their their spin trio got a couple of wickets apiece. Henry Crocombe and Saqib Mahmood chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Just after the completion of the first innings, a drizzle came and intensified. That halted the game for nearly an hour before the players came back. The DLS adjusted target was 108 runs in 12 overs for England. Ben McKinney and Paul Walter started a bit cautiously and played their shots after being well-set. After the first 4 overs, they were 46/0 and the rain came back again to halt the game for 15 minutes.

The newly revised target was 73 in 8 overs for the English team, that meant 27 from 24 balls. McKinney hit Theekshana for a boundary to resume the proceedings and dragged the equation to run-a-ball. But, Theekshana got the better of him next ball as a top edge found the short third fielder. McKinney's 19-run knock laid the foundation and Paul Walter made sure no other hiccup happened. He tonked Chameera for 10 runs in the first two deliveries of the 7th over and brought the victory. Walter remained unbeaten on 34 and Ben Mayes scored an unbeaten 10 to take their team home.
