It will be another doubleheader on Monday. West Delhi Lions vs Purani Dilli-6 in the afternoon game, while it's Central Delhi Kings vs North Delhi Strikers in the evening game. We will be there as well. For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Saptak Sanyal and scorer,Sachin Yadav. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!
That is it from the doubleheader on Sunday, but we have already moved into Monday, thanks to the rain-hit opening game between Outer Delhi Warriors and Central Delhi Kings! It started after a four-hour delay, and it was a 10-over-a-side game. A surreal finish from Vansh Bedi saw him pull the rabbit out of the hat to give the Yash Dhull-led Central Delhi Kings their second win of the season. In the second game between East Delhi Riders and New Delhi Tigers, it was Lakshay Thareja who stole the show amidst the spin magic to set the foundation for the Tigers before their bowlers did the rest to seal a 49-run win.
Lakshay Thareja (Player of the Match): "(How did you pace your innings?) The wicket was a bit tricky. My role was clear because I was well set. I had to bat throughout to put up a decent total. Me and Yashjeet put up a good total but I think the total we set up was not a very decent one.
(On his strike rotation) As the wicket was tricky, it was not easy to get those odd boundaries every over. My plan was clear that if I bat throughout the innings, I might score 20 from one over. I guess, I was able to do that.
(On the mood in the camp) The mood is very positive. Captain leads from the front. He has a lot of energy and brings it on the field. That reflects on the rest of the guys.
But sir I want to say something. I was not feeling really good about myself after I got out in the last game. I got a message from my mom in the morning that I have to play this match for her. This is for you mom! Love you!
Player of the Match: Lakshay Thareja
Himmat Singh (New Delhi Tigers Captain): "(Your team fought back from a tough situation) In cricket, you have to fight every match. It is like a war every day. To win, nothing comes easy. You have to fight.
(When 122/7 was on the board, did you thought of getting 178?) In these situations actually we took batting for that. When you are batting second, reaching 170 becomes tough. While batting first, you can get a big over anytime. The other team offers you singles and then the credit goes to Lakshay and Yashjeet who added the runs at the backend.
(Happy with Rishabh Sharma?) Definitely. He must be happy. In the last game, he was not at his best. But it happens as the batting team will hit you at times. I think today he will be happy. It is only two games. Eight games are coming and he will have to make his mark.
(Happy to find the winning ways as a team?) Always."
