Edinburgh Castle Rockers begin their campaign with a statement win. They batted the way one is supposed to bat in T20s in this era, making full use of the shorter boundaries and a wicket that was relatively flat. Having chased down 116 with so much time remaining, their Net Run Rate inflates in a big way, giving them an advantage in the early stages of the League. Lots to ponder for the Glasgow Cosmic - they were keen on batting first, but lost their way completely, lacking application. Still early days; a lot of time for them to recover and sort out their mistakes.
Mitchell Santner (Edinburgh Castle Rockers Captain): (On the team's start and adapting to the conditions) "I think we talked about adapting and seeing what the pitch was going to do. I thought the way we started with the ball was perfect. It's a hybrid wicket, it's not getting any newer, but I think the boys did their lengths to start. When you take wickets at the top, it's a nice one for the spinners to come in.
(On the plan after watching the first two games) I guess the feedback from the first two games gives you an idea, but you have to get out there and see for yourself. We communicated well between the bowlers about what was effective and what we needed to operate on. I think the wicket showed that if you just bash away, it got pretty challenging, and then there was the opposite side.
(On captaining a new group of players) It's a new group. You're getting to know everyone and understanding the roles. I think that's our job as captain and coaches, to make everyone feel part of it, understand their roles, and have real clarity in how you operate. I thought we've started pretty well with that.
(On the team's approach with the bat) If you have a lower total and can get off to a flyer, it puts you in a pretty good space. But I think the way those guys went about it was perfect, and that's how we're going to go about it throughout this competition. I guess it was a pretty complete performance all round, which is nice.
(On playing again the next day) Yeah, we go again tomorrow. And I think it is three pitches as well. I don't know if you know that, but I think that's what we've been told. I'm pretty happy with that."

Trent Boult (Player of the Match): "(First five wicket haul, what contributed to your success today?) I don't know, actually! Good conditions. The wicket played alright, little bit of swing at the start. Bit of a collective effort with the spinners bowling through the middle. That's how cricket works, nice to get the rewards personally, but it was probably a group effort.
(When do you decide what to bowl when?) Coming into a new environment, new world - I've never been here before. Just happened to read these conditions, I suppose. the sooner you read the conditions and make that call, the quicker you control. Nice to get a couple at the top.
(On responsibility as a senior player) Not getting any younger, getting more experience as I move around the world. Some guys I definitely haven't played with before, some familiar faces as well. Nice to do a bit of both roles.
(Are you enjoying the roles?) Definitely. Great initiative to bring a tournament like this to this part of the world, feel very lucky to have the role to promote it and encourage people to play in this part of the world."

George Munsey (Glasgow Cosmic Captain): (On the tough start to the campaign) "It's never ideal starting a competition like that, but for me, it's all about the positives. I think the way Berrington played there in the middle on a tough track was really good. The bowlers bowled really well for them, made it tough to score, and made it tough to rotate. Again, with the ball, I thought AK [Ali Khan], the way he started, was asking questions. We just didn't quite get into the fight at any stage.
(On what he would have done differently with the bat) I'd probably score a few more runs - I think it's quite easy. No, look, I think we got a bit unlucky there with the bat. We started to build a few partnerships. They bowled well, credit to them, but it's all about building. It's a fresh competition, a fresh start and a new team. You can't win or lose the competition in your first game. There are positives to move forward with, and I'm confident in this group to bounce back.
(On not opening the bowling with Lungi Ngidi) I think you saw the way AK [Ali Khan] just came in firing away. There was a bit of a breeze as well, so we wanted to give him the conditions. 10:00 PM IST, 6:30 PM Local Time: As one-sided a game as they can get! It was almost like these two sides played in completely different pitches, judging by their batting approach and the way they timed the ball! Usually, these low run-chases tend to be a bit tricky, but not if you strike the ball as cleanly as Ross Adair and Andries Gous did! The Castle Rockers bowlers were clinical earlier in the day, making life for their batters all too easy. While Trent Boult picked up a five-wicket haul, it was a complete team effort from their bowling unit!
