Quick recap to the first qualifier, Dambulla Aura won the toss and elected to bowl first on a slower surface and stopped the Galle Titans for a slightly below par total of 146 dismissing the team in 20 overs.
The Aura openers got off to an attacking start adding 33 in 22 balls when Avishka Fernando was stumped off Shakib Al Hasan's bowling, Kusal Mendis continued his good work with Sadeera Samarawickrama (13 off 15) falling next.
Kusal Perera then joined his namesake and added 69 runs for the third wicket taking the team closer to the total. He hit 3 sixes and 4 fours scoring 53 in 39 balls and was dismissed in the final over with only 1 run needed.
Mendis played his hand as well scoring 49 in 45 balls anchoring the innings to perfection but was dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi. Dasun Shanaka bowled the final over with only 1 run required and dismissed Perera and bowled a couple of dots afterwards with Alex Ross managing the winning single off the 4th delivery.
Shanaka (1/1), Seekkuge Prasanna (1/22), Shakib Al Hasan (1/23) and Shamsi (1/37) were the wicket takers for Titans. Lahiru Kumara bowled an economic spell of 0/16 but there were just not enough runs for the Titans bowlers to put their foot in.
The Titans will have another chance to get in the finals as they will now proceed to play the 2nd qualifier with the winner of the eliminator game which will take place in a few minutes.
