10:40 PM IST and Local Time: Gulbadin Naib tonks Dinura Kalupahana out of the ground and flexes his muscles as he finishes things off in style. Dambulla Sixers have got a thumping victory as they have completely outplayed the Galle Gallants. A victory with 23 balls to remaining and by a margin of 6 wickets is a big boost to the net run rate.
Dambulla Sixers won the toss and sent Galle Gallants to bat first. Sam Harper and Lasith Croospulle saw off the first two overs and added just 10 off it. Croospulle hit Vishwa Lahiru for a boundary to start the third over but mistimed the inside out in the next ball and lost his wicket. Charith Asalanka joined Harper. Then the latter teed off against Fazalhaq Farooqi in the 4th over, taking 18 from that. Charith Asalanka then cut loose against Maheesh Theekshana in the 5th over, hitting a six and a boundary in consecutive balls. Their combined onslaught took the Gallants to 57/2 in the powerplay.
Sixers then introduced Gulbadin Naib, who used the off-cutter, nip backer and pace-off deliveries to a tee to restrict the run flow. His off-cutter clipped the top of the off stump of Harper (40 off 22), denying the Aussie a well-deserved fifty. They brought in Mohammad Nawaz, a slow left arm orthodox in the third over and Dickwella hit him for a boundary. But in the fourth ball of the over, the latter tried to replicate the sweep shot and found Chamika Karunaratne at square leg. Dasun Shanaka brought himself back for the fourth over and his off-cutter got rid of Sahibzada Farhan (13). Pavan Rathnayake and Reeza Hendricks took the score to 48/2 when the impact-sub of Galle Gallants, Eshan Malinga was introduced. Eshan was greeted with a six off a short ball and did not learn from his mistake and bowled two more in the over to allow Pavan Rathnayake to replicate the result. Another good length ball was hit for a boundary by Pavan but Eshan had a redemption next ball. His searing yorker hit the base of Pavan's (29 off 11) off stump and the Sixers ended the powerplay with 70/3. They were in a comfortable position in the 179-run chase.

The Sixers were going at 11.67 runs per over after the completion of powerplay and the spinners brought it to 10. But Dasun Shanaka made a gaffe and he brought back his pacers. Akif Javed was introduced in the 10th over and Ackerman hit the 5th ball of that over for a maximum to bring up the team hundred. Eshan Malinga was again trusted with another over and the pair of Ackerman-Reeza took 13 from the 11th over. The run rate catapulted to 10.50. Then Shanaka went back to his spinners but it was impossible for Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Viyaskanth to curtail the run flow then. Chamika Karunaratne dismissed Ackerman (35 off 25) but it was too late then. Reeza Hendricks completed his fifty in 30 balls and continued.
