That’s it from this encounter. The Ravichandran Ashwin-led Dublin Guardians fails to breathe alive in the tournament. They fail to continue the winning momentum that they earned in their previous encounter. However, their counterparts, Edinburgh Castle Rockers continue to dominate in the tourney, winning six out of their seven matches.
Mitchell Santner (Edinburgh Castle Rockers Captain): "(Congratulations cool calm collected just another day in the office but you were really pushed today how did you get over the line?) Yeah we were I mean it was a great game I thought at the halfway stage you know we were probably power or around there so we knew we had to bowl well on a wicket that was was pretty good um it was a little bit stoppy at times and I think it was a pretty good wicket so yeah I think the bowlers in the field we were pretty good to get across.
(After that third wicket partnership between Andries Gous and Brandon McMullen, do you feel as though you almost left a few runs out there, that they kind of dragged it back quite nicely in that first innings?) Yeah, I think the way we kind of set it up, although those two especially, we could have probably got 180, 190 potentially, but... I think they bowled pretty well in the death and they used the sides pretty well. So I think it was a bit of a blueprint for us with the ball as well, kind of top of the stumps. And if you need to use the big side, use it. So yeah, it was a great game of cricket and nice to get across the line.
(How good has been Brandon McMullen?) Yeah, I know you think he's very good. Yeah, he's very good. Yeah, obviously with the bat, he's shown his skills already. And then with the ball, you know, we know he is a good bowler. Just trying to find the time to use it. And today he was very good. And then with the new ball, he's a great option as well.
(What about your position at the table? You must be so satisfied. Is there a big focus now on making sure you get that top spot and direct to the grand final on the 20th?) Yeah, I think momentum is a massive thing in a T20 career especially. So, you know, we're going pretty well and, you know, we're trying to keep using it. And we know it's going to be a challenge. There's still very good teams in this competition playing some good cricket.
So, yeah, I mean, we're doing well. It's nice different guys are kind of stepping up as well. Jarvo with the ball today was outstanding. obviously the guys with the bat as well did a great job so I think everyone's chipping in and it's a great team performance and it's I mean we haven't changed our team yet but um yeah it might be you know kind of back-to-back games you might have a look at a couple of other guys but we'll see it's it's going pretty well can't complain we've been outstanding all season."

(On his team under using him as a bowler) I have to ask the skipper about this. No actually I am glad to show some skills with the ball.
(How important were those two wickets?) Yes sometimes it becomes key to create those pressure. Harry Tector was going well and we needed those wickets. So those brought the pressure back and we got the win.
(What has been the change for you in last two games?) Not much change. I think it is being clear and take those responsibility. We had to make a score and get to the winning position. I think that has been the key in the last couple of games. I am glad to put this performance.
(Have you put away some shots or kept everything in your repertoire?) No I have just been a bit selective. I try to play to my strengths and play down the ground. Putting away those cheeky stuff for now. Keeping it nice and simple and sticking to my plans.
(How important is this ETPL for you?) Massively. I mean I rubbed shoulders with some of the best in the game. It has been vital for all the local players from Ireland and Netherlands too. It is a fantastic tournament and may it continue long."

But it is more than half of a season where we have not known how to close out these games. Losing wickets at the wrong time cost us. At one end, six (five) overs and 56 to get. You fancy to get these, but we kept losing wickets. You need those boundaries. It will come if these players play a lot more.
(Were you pleased with their total of 174?) That was comfortably under par. I thought 185 would have been a par score. I thought that was a very good effort by the bowlers. We can always be better, there were phases where we could have been more clinical and put them under pressure. But we could not do that and we should be a little disappointed.
(Local players like Craig Young and Harry Tector are a big plus for you) Obviously he is taking a lot of wickets. He is bowling top and tail and that is not easy when you are playing your first edition. That is a real tick for us. George, Harry, even Josh, he is coming back from an injury. They have done a lot. I think we are lacking a bit of power. We are getting better, smaller wins but we have to close out the games.

10:10 PM IST, 5:40 PM Local Time: The Edinburgh Castle Rockers seem like the team to beat in the ongoing ETPL. They remain undefeated with 13 points from seven games so far. A convincing 12-run victory for the Mitchell Santner-led unit. For the Dublin Guardians, its a close of the chapter. They had their moments but not so in a collection manner. Eventually, they'll have to bow out without proceeding to the next stage.
Arriving for the chase, the Guardians looked a tad slow with their scoring rate. James Vince and David Willey added 32 runs for the opening stand before Jack Jarvis for the better of Vince in the fourth over. Three overs later, he removed struggling Willey, making way for Daryl Mitchell in the crease. The New Zealand all-rounder assisted Harry Tector in a 41-run third-wicket partnership before a collapse unfolded.
With pressure mounting the Guardians batters hurried with the bat. Jack Jarvis sneaked a couple of more wickets amidst the exerted pressure, reducing the Ravi Ashwin-led side to 145/5 in 18 overs. With 30 to get in 12 balls, Jack Jarvis did pick a couple of wickets but leaked 13 runs, as George Dockrell found a couple of fours. The spin-bowling all-rounder departed on the first ball of the ultimate over and the side eventually succumbed, falling short by twelve runs.
