That's a wrap from the Season 10 opener of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Dindigul Dragons get the better of the defending champions, iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, by seven wickets.
The action continues with a double-header tomorrow. In the first game, Trichy Grand Cholas will take on Madurai Panthers, while the evening fixture will see Chepauk Super Gillies lock horns with Nellai Royal Kings.

Baba Indrajith (Dindigul Dragons Captain): "[On his stump-mic chat] See I am not aware of these things. When you are in the game and when you are very intense, when you are talking to the bowler, when you are a leader, I think even if I am not the leader, I am a keeper. I think you need to have conversations with the bowlers and as you see, we have a lot of youngsters and a lot of debutants. So as much as possible, I am trying to communicate with them.
[On using the short-ball ploy] I think we had that plan in our preparations. Even if the wicket was not that green, we would have played four seamers here. We were very aware that short balls were effective in the last seasons as well. But you need that pace and you need the correct lengths to bowl. We have couple of bowlers who can bowl those bouncers. Credit to Bhuvaneswaran because after being hit for 20-odd runs in the first over, I think the last ball of the over was a bouncer and a brilliant catch that changed things for us in this game.
[On his four debutants] Obviously, Bhuvaneswaran has played TNPL before but this was his first game for us. There were a lot of debutants for us in this game starting with Nirankar Sharma. He is an exciting wrist spinner and he doesn't shy away from a lot of things. He is very enthusiastic and if he can get a couple of wickets like this, I think there is only upside for him in this tournament.
Sakthi Karuppasamy bowled really well and used the short ball really well. In a tricky chase, Anuraag Nair held his nerve and took the game deep.
[On Ashwin working as a mentor] He's been amazing. Whenever he's here, that presence is always been there. So, that presence helps you a lot even when you are leading. You feel calm when he's around. Whenever I have some doubts, I can obviously look at him and he'll have ideas but apart from that, the way he prepares as a champion bowler, I think he has passed it onto the others because the kind of camps you have, the kind of intense camps, I think full credit to Ash Anna."

It was an emotional moment for me. I had been waiting years for this moment. And I can't expect a better debut than this. Really thanks to the DD management, Ashwin bhaiya and Indrajith.
[On experience of working with Ashwin] Like, it was my dream to work with him or under him. He has been superb with his mentorship. I can't expect anything better than what's going on in my life.
[On his journey with Dindigul Dragons] Like, I was there with them. I was playing matches with them. I kept performing in different tournaments around Tamil Nadu. They saw me somewhere, called me for the trials and showed trust on me. Thanks to them for believing in me."

R Sai Kishore (iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans Captain): "[How crucial was the toss in this game?] The toss played a crucial role in this game but we can't put everything on the toss. We should have played better and assessed the conditions better. We should have batted better from that position, one positive is that we managed to drag the game to the 19th over. We are still alive in the tournament. It was a good team effort, bowling-wise, but we have to be smart enough about how to be aggressive and play according to the conditions at the same time.
[Where did this game drift away?] I think it went away from us from the start. We tried to fight back with the ball, but losing four wickets inside the powerplay makes it hard to make a match out of it. They were ahead from the start, but still we fought hard, and the fighting spirit of the team was right up there.
[How will you lift the team with such a short turnaround?] I think everyone is mature enough to know what they need to do. We will have honest conversations inside the dressing room. We need to be smart with our attacking play, we can't slog blindly and need to play according to the situation. Happy with the performance of the bowling unit."

10:32 PM IST, Local Time: The Dindigul Dragons kick start the 10th edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League with a 7-wicket victory over iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. A clinical win with 9 balls to spare. The bowlers setting it up with a fantastic effort in the first innings.
Dragons skipper Baba Indrajith won the toss and decided to bowl first. Amith Sathvik smashed 20 off the first 5 balls of the 21-run over but was sent back on the 6th delivery by P Bhuvaneswaran. The wicket triggered a collapse with the Tamizhans never recovering to eventually bundle out for 107 in 15.4 overs with Sathvik's 20 being the top score.
Nirankar Sharma stepped up to lead the spin attack. His leg spin yielding 3/21, Bhuvaneswaran picked up 3/32, Sakthi Karuppasamy picked up 2/18 with Sandeep Warrier and M Karthik Saran picking up a wicket apiece.
The Dragons openers started cautiously with Anuraag Nair hitting 34 off 39 deliveries to keep the scoreboard ticking and helping his side move towards the small target. Ragupathy Silambarasan (1/20) bowled tidy line and lengths and got the first breakthrough sending impact player Shivam Singh back.
RK Jayant departed in the very next over with skipper Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore claiming his only wicket. Anuraag was joined by R Vimal Khumar and the duo added 49 runs for the 3rd wicket. It was T Natarajan who picked up a wicket off his final ball, sending Anuraag back in the shed.
Vimal also took the cautious route scoring an unbeaten 33 off 40 deliveries with a four and a six. Hunny Saini at number 5 scored an unbeaten 17 off 16 and hit the winning maximum off Silambarasan in the penultimate over.
Sai Kishore was the pick of the bowlers with 1/19, T Natarajan picked up 1/27. Esakkimuthu A was wicketless but conceded just 16 runs in his full quota.
