So MI turning out to be the team to beat yet again. Another convincing performance from MI, what a professional all-round performance. Being an ardent MI fan, I am just overjoyed with the way they have performed so far. Like always it was a pleasure bringing the live commentary and match updates for you. Till the next time, tata and goodnight from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my co-commentator Kingshuk Kusari. Good night folks. Stay tuned for tomorrow's high octane clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Quinton de Kock | Man of the match: I enjoyed the win at the end of the day. I just kept it simple. I've been batting well in the nets, and it was just a matter of doing well in the game. I knew eventually I would get a score, just had to capitalize on the opportunity. I don't think it's getting any cooler, compared to South Africa. We are getting used to the weather, but it does get quite difficult in this heat and humidity.
Rohit Sharma | Winning captain: The kind of cricket we are playing gives us a lot of confidence. It's important to have momentum with us, and it was a perfect day for us, getting those crucial two points. We did everything right, but there are still some things we can improve on. We were good with the ball and restricted them to 160-odd. Clinical with the bat, but not so much towards the end. We need one set batsman to finish off the game in general, and some set batsmen got out today, but I don't want to point fingers because chasing has been difficult in this tournament. Given the conditions, we need to come out and play good cricket, and keep a calm head while chasing. It's important to have partnerships and we did that today, which got us over the line.
Ishan Kishan: When I was in batting, the middle overs were pretty important for us to keep the momentum going. We needed few runs and we - me and Surya - did when Stoinis was bowling. It was good overall, but I did not finish the match. It was important for me and Surya to finish the match but it's still a good learning for us. Most of our batsmen are attacking, they are very good at the back end. We have scored around 190 many times in this tournament. We knew that we just needed to back our instincts and we needed to be positive. It was important to select the ball. The pressure was there because they (DC) have a very good bowling line-up and they have won matches before in these situations. Me and Pollard were talking in the middle what we have to do. He asked me to keep the process right and keep the intent. That was the only thing I was thinking about. He (Suryakumar Yadav) has been performing very well throughout the season and in the previous seasons also. I am just trying to take some experience from him. He is very consistent, he has very good batting skills. He has a done a lot of hard work before the season so credit goes to him.
Shreyas Iyer | Losing captain: Definitely, I would say 10-15 short, 170-175 on the board would have looked completely different. We really missed out when Stoinis got out, he was hitting the ball really well and also seeing the ball like a football, that was the main error that we did and something that we really need to work on. Apart from that the effort we put on the field, we could definitely work on that as there were a few misfields and dropped catches as well. Overall they outplayed us in all the departments. We need to work on our mindsets before the next game. I thought the spinners were bowling well as the ball was coming onto the bat, it wasn't stopping as it was in the first innings. If we could have squeezed in two more wickets after the powerplay we would have been on top. It is really important for us not to take any team lightly and be positive in our approach. There are still certain elements we have to work and we will use the break to work on that. We have no idea (on Rishabh's availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong.
Earlier in the day it was Shreyas Iyer who won the toss and elected to bat. DC got off to the worst possible start, losing Prithvi Shaw pretty early. Rahane also fell relatively early and following that there was a good partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan. Iyer again played a crucial knock. Dhawan stayed till the end but was unable to find the gaps and hit the sixes. Eventually, he remained unbeaten on 69 of 52 deliveries. The MI bowlers did a great job in the backend. Trent Boult produced another masterclass in the powerplay. Jasprit Bumrah again had a good day but didn't manage to bag a wicket. Eventually DC's score of 162 didn't prove to be enough.
