This is it from the presentation area and from our side as well. This was Anmol Ahuja along with my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee, Anirudh Modi and our scorer for the game Zeeshan Naiyer.
Shakib Al Hasan, Player of the Match and winning skipper: "We have been defending well. We need to make sure we need to score 25-30 more runs and two to three boundaries is all that we need and if we can get that, we should not be too worried about the batting side of things."
Imrul Kayes (Losing Captain): "It was a chaseable target to chase down. At one point we thought they will get to 180. But we did well to restrict them to 150-160. We lacked application. We could have used Janat earlier but we wanted the matchups to go well and credit to Shakib who batted well. I used Tanvir and others to get rid of Shakib. But he batted well. The batting is where we were let down. Looking forward to improving the performance in our next game. "
A dominating performance by Fortune Barishal and they have bullied the Victorians into submission. The chase never took off as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Skipper led with the ball in hand as well, getting rid of both the openers cheaply. Bravo added to the Victorians miseries when he dismissed Mahmudul Hasan Joy in the final over of the powerplay and reduced them to 35-3.
Post that point, Imrul Kayes men struggled to get any partnership going and none of them showed any signs of imposing themselves on the game or threatened to take it away from the opponents. Shakib controlled the middle overs beautifully with his bowling changes. The spinners extracted purchase.
Three wickets for Nayeem, two for Bravo and one for Shanto. Shakib was the pick of them all with his two wickets upfront and just twenty runs from his quota of four overs. Earlier in the day Fortune Barishal found themselves in some trouble after Munim was sent back into the hut.
They were 69 for 3 and the game could have gone either way. Out strolled the captain and stitched in a 67 run stand with Hridoy. Shakib carried on until the 18th over but the foundation was laid. Bravo struck a couple of lusty blows towards the fag end and propelled the total to 155. With a turning wicket and a quality bowling attack this was always going to be tricky and proved too much in the end.
Fourth win on the trot for Shakib’s men and they will and they will certainly draw a lot of confidence from this, On to the presentation now..
