Paul played a superb knock, the way he got into positions today was a treat to watch. We just focus on what we had to execute, all the other contributions, the small ones helped. Even though there is a lot of experience, the players are willing to adapt to the needs of the team."
Abhishek Tanwar (Salem Spartans Skipper): "I must take the responsibility for this loss as I bowled four no balls in the last over which is absolutely unacceptable from a senior bowler. The wind also didn't help us as it played a huge role tonight. We have a number of openers in our side and we planned accordingly but we must sort it out before the next game."

game by 52 runs as they dominated in all three departments and defeated Salem Spartans in their first match. They started their campaign on a
winning note.
Earlier in the game, Chepauk Super Gillies won the toss and elected to bat first. They started innings with Narayan Jagadeesan and Pradosh Ranjan Paul, they got off to a great start with openers as they both posted 91 runs in the 9.1 before Narayan Jagadeesan walks off the field at 35 off 27.
Baba Aparajith joined Pradosh Ranjan Paul. The duo took charge after the first wicket and progressed their partnership in the middle and glued a solid partnership of 73 runs in 43 balls.
Pradosh Ranjan Paul was the top scorer as he scored 88 off 55 balls including 12 fours and a six before departed. Baba Aparajith played a cameo of 29 off 19 balls before departing in the 17th over. A never-ending last over from Abhishek Tanwar helped the Super Gillies finish on a high. R Sanjay Yadav remained unbeaten on 31 off 12 balls taking his team to a mammoth total of 217 runs.
Sunny Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers for the Spartans as he scalped a couple of wickets. While Abhishek Tanwar and RS Mokit Hariharan with a wicket each.
While chasing a mammoth total of 218 runs. Salem Spartans got off to a slow start, as they posted 38 runs, a loss of 2 wickets in the first 6 overs. S Aravind and Akash Sumra, this duo tried to steer the ship for Spartans but they failed when Akash Sumra walks off to the field at 24 runs off 27 balls. While his partner S Aravind went off at 17. Afterward, Salem Spartans kept on losing the wickets at regular intervals and were going away from the target.
But Kaushik Gandhi, who struggled from the other end to steer this sinking ship again but he failed and was dismissed at 23 runs in the 17th over. Then, Sunny Sandhu and Muhammed Adnan Khan, this duo looked aggressive in the middle, they both added 49 runs in just 19 balls. Muhammed Adnan Khan looked fire, knocked with a strike rate of 313.33, and stayed unbeaten at 47 runs off 15 balls. Salem Spartans ended their innings at 165/9 in the 20 overs.
From Super Gillies, Bhasker Rocky was the pick of the bowlers, gave away 13 runs in his 2 overs, and scalped two wickets. While Baba Aparajith and M Viju Arul picked a couple of wickets each. Harish Kumar, Rahil Shah, and M Silambarasan celebrated with a wicket each.
