The Colombo Kaps fly to the top of the table as they do a double over the Kandy Royals. They are doing a phenomenal job despite many of their front-line players being injured. For the Kandy Royals, they need to find wins at any cost from here on as they are flirting with getting knocked out of the tournament.

It is time to switch to the second game of the day. Galle Gallants take on the Jaffna Kings and it shall start in less than an hour.

I, Manan Mehta, would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Dev Rajawat, Ninaad Dixit, Mohammad Anab and Yogesh Kumar. Cheers.
Kamindu Mendis (Colombo Kaps Captain): "(On the team's performance) I'm really happy. The boys have been doing really well. It was a good total that we put on the board. Janith played a fantastic knock, the other batters supported him well, and Rubin also did a great job in this match.

(On areas to improve) Overall, I'm happy with the way we're progressing. But one area of concern is our fielding. That's something we need to improve, and we'll work hard to correct those mistakes going forward."
Player of the Match: Janith Liyanage

6:41 PM IST, Local Time: Colombo Kaps win by 23 runs! This has been a very disciplined bowling performance from the Colombo Kaps. They needed this win after falling short in their previous game. The batters set it up for them with a fine first innings total and the bowlers carried that momentum through the second innings.

The Kandy Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. They struck thrice inside the first 5 overs and reduced the Kaps to 30/3. Rubin Hermann (53) and Janith Liyanage (52*) led the recovery and were helped by cameos from Jimmy Neesham (24 off 10) and Binura Fernando (21 off 13) to push the team score to 192/9 in 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for the Royals were Shaheen Afridi (2/34), Moeen Ali (2/31) and Dushan Hemanta (2/20).

The chase was always going to be tricky once it crossed 180. Kusal Perera started off well in the first couple of overs before getting trapped in front by Mujeeb Ur Rahman for 19. His opening partner Lahiru Udara skied one for just 4. Apart from Dale Phillips no one in the middle order crossed single digits. Pawan Sandesh (8), Moeen Ali (1) and Wanindu Hasaranga (8) all failed to get going as the spinners applied the choke.

Dale Phillips was battling from one end and reached 38 before he hit one down the throat of deep midwicket. The Royals were reeling at 88-6. It soon became 95-7 after Shaheen Afridi hit one down the throat of long on for just 5. Vijay Shankar and Angelo Mathews valiantly added 49 for the 8th wicket before the former hit one to long on and was dismissed for 30. Angelo Mathews continued batting, but the ask was too much. He ended with 39* but his team fell short by 23 runs. The pick of the bowlers for the Colombo Kaps was Mujeen Ur Rahman for his 3/34. Shahnawaz Dahani, Wanuja Sahan, Malsha Tharupathi and Jimmy Neesham had a wicket each to their name.
