9:45 PM IST| Prince: A comprehensive win for Sylhet Strikers as they thumped the Chattogram Challengers by 7 wickets and jumped to the top of the table.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Chattogram Challengers posted 174 runs for loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs against the strong bowling attack of Sylhet Strikers. Shuvagata Hom was the top contributor for Chattogram Challengers, as he scored 54 runs off 29 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 3 boundaries, while Mehedi Maruf scored 52 runs in 40 balls. On the flip side, Imad Wasim chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Mashrafe Mortaza and Mohammad Amir extracted a solitary wicket for each.
In pursuit of the Chattogram Challengers’ average score of 174 runs total, the Sylhet Strikers got off to a flying start as they scored 55 runs without any loss. Both their openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy(15 runs off 18 balls) were looking in sublime touch. But in the middle, they lost wickets in quick succession. After that, Mushfiqur Rahim(41* runs off 26 balls) and Ryan Burl took charge and finished the game in the 18th over. Ryan Burl hits some mighty sixes and boundaries in the middle which helped to release the pressure. Najmul Hossain Shanto was the top run-scorer who scored 60 runs off 44 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 6 boundaries, while Ryan Burl scored quick 41 runs off 16 balls. On the flip side, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth was the pick of the bowler he scalped 2 wickets, while Nihaduzzaman extracted a solitary wicket.
A Comprehensive win for Sylhet Strikers and they will look to carry the momentum in the upcoming matches. On the other side, Chottogram Challengers need to regroup and come back stronger in the upcoming matches.
