Milestone
That's all from this game but don't you worry, cricket never ends on this platform. A lot of action is lined up for the day. Keep a tab on all our coverage. See you all on the other end. This is me, Arjun Bhalla signing off on the behalf of Akshayakrishna Polya, Anmol Ahuja and Ashok Dayma.
That is it! It is official. Otago Volts' losing streak won't end, at least this season. It is official. Another horrifying loss for the bottom-dwellers as they could not defend a total of 185 runs. Against a batting of Canterbury and on a track flat like this, it was always going to be tough but the Volts could have done better.

They could have done a bit better. They could have played with the runs in the bank. They could have tried to keep a lid on the runs. Could have tried some attacking field placements. Could also have tried to change the plan of action. But they did not do so. As a result, the result is in front of you all.

The bowlers were so pale and clueless, that the captain Rutherford was once heard requesting his bowler - "Please, try a slower bumper, that could work".

After putting 185 runs on board, the bowlers looked helpless from the word go. The ball was coming well onto the bat, Rutherford used fast-bowlers (instead of trying spin), and Latham-Bowes used that to their advantage to stem an opening stand of 58 runs in no time (26 balls). However, a minor hiccup occurred in the form of Bowes' wicket but for nothing. The first dismissal allowed Mitchell to come out and jam his own tune.

Mitchell along with Latham continued threatening the Otago bowlers with their not-so-pleasing treatment (if you are a Volts fan). The Kiwi opener was eventually stumped out but that was too late. As Mitchell and Carter did the finishing job. All in all, it was like a cakewalk for the Canterbury Kings as they sealed this win by eight wickets with 17 balls to spare.
17.1 A McKenzie to L Carter
1 Single to finish the game. Short and on middle. Carter swivels and pulls it to deep square leg for a single. They beat the Volts by 8 wickets. They will finish the season with 28 points.

16.6 M Rae to D Mitchell
2 Short length delivery on off. Mitchell on the back foot drags this pull to deep backward square leg for a couple of runs to end the over. And with that the scores are level.
16.5 M Rae to L Carter
1 Fuller on leg stick line. Carter clips it to deep fine leg for a single.
16.4 M Rae to L Carter
4 FOURR!! A low full toss outside the off. Carter uses his feet and drills this drive through extra covers for a delightful four. The deep covers ran across and dives to stop that but couldn't stop that one.
16.3 M Rae to L Carter
0 Good length ball angling across outside the off. Carter misses the ball on the push in the off side.
16.2 M Rae to D Mitchell
1 Full and on off. Yorker to be honest. Mitchell gest the inside edge on the drive to deep square leg for a single.
