Sourya: With this win, the Sixers go top of the pile with 25 points and face the other Sydney side, Thunder in an epic battle next. The Heat drop one more after showing resurgence and they remain stuck in sixth. Next they face the Renegades.
That's it for the coverage of this BBL game today, I Sourya Chowdhury, will now take your leave on behalf of myself and my fellow commentators Arjun Bhalla and Akshay Bhide. See you soon.
Player of the match: Dan Christian. Here is what he had to say after it.
"We certainly didn't want it to get that close. But they bowled really well. I just said to Jacko I'll take the strike and hopefully he misses and luckily he did. I still love it. I just love winning. Apart from one innings earlier in the season I haven't really delivered this season."
Sourya: Wildermuth, Mujeeb and Bazley all got two wickets a piece and nearly took their team over the line, but it was not to be.
Sourya: The Sixers had some trouble in the chase of 150 early on after losing wickets, but Christian skipper Dan Hughes, who also got a fifty, seemed to have settled it early with them really powering through the Power Surge, before all hell broke loose and wickets fell at a canter. From needing 20 off 20, they nearly lost it and had to rely on Christian's magical blade to get over the line in the last over. They also rode their luck through drop catches and impossible twos, but in the end, they held their nerves to win a vital game.
Sourya: Carlos Brathwaite was the pick of the bowlers for the Sixers, keeping it tight and steady to pick up figures of 4/18. Everyone was disciplined with the ball for the team and only Chrisian got hit a bit while Jake Ball also got three scalps.
