So, that is it from me, Karthik Raj and my co-commentators, Akshay Bhide and Arjun Bhalla. Join the coverage of the game between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes which is being played now.
Marnus Labuschagne: Our season has come down to the last game the last few years and we've made a meal of it. But Benny Laughlin got us through today with hitting that wide yorker. We rolled the dice in the Power Surge and I don't know if the skipper will go to me again after that. Just with our fielding and saving crucial runs in the ring, Lynny (Chris Lynn) got us off to a good start too so there's a lot of good things to take and momentum to take us to Brisbane.
Comments from the Man of the Match:
Scorchers required 81 off the last 30 balls but Labuschagne's Power Surge over changed the complexion of the match as Mitchell Marsh took 18 runs from it. Thereafter, the big-hitting Marsh kept on coming up with a flurry of boundaries and sixes while Aaron Hardie and Jhye Richardson came up with a few useful hits. With 17 required off the last over, Jhye's boundary off the third delivery made the equation to ten off three balls but Ben Laughlin held his nerve to see out the victory for the Heat.
So, that is it, Brisbane Heat make it to the play-offs with a thrilling six-run win. The duo of Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone got the Scorchers off to a brilliant start with 39 runs coming off the Powerplay. However, the promising 53-run opening partnership was broken by Mitchell Swepson in the 7th over. The in-form Colin Munro struggled as he made his way to 7 off 14 balls before falling in the 10th over. Josh Inglis joined Roy in the middle and started a decent combination but the spin trio of Swepson, Joe Denly and Marnus Labuschagne tied the knots. Labuschagne, in particular, was exceptional as he took three quick wickets to reduce the Scorchers to 94-5 after 13.4 overs.
Akshay: What a nail-biting finish we had. A perfect way to start the triple-header today.
