So, that is it from me, Karthik Raj and my co-commentators, Akshay Bhide and Kingshuk Kusari. Stay tuned to OneCricket's coverage of the remainder of the BBL
Joe Burns: I just try and be clear with what my options are and stick to that. The bowlers did a fantastic job, and so did the batsmen upfront. The pitch was a bit low and slow, but got better to play on as the dew came in. That was our gameplan at the toss with their spinners coming in. We've made a commitment to be a bit smart, hang in there and take games deep. Joe Denly coming in as the overseas players changes the makeup a bit and it is working well for us. The magic of Morne Morkel was unbelievable. He scares me in the nets and so it was nice to see him go after someone else for a change. He's going to play a big part going forward for us.
Comments from the Man of the Match:
Thereafter, Renegades made a sudden comeback as the spinners tied down the run-flow. Eventually, Kane Richardson bowled Chris Lynn in the 14th over to offer a lifeline for the Renegades. The next three overs saw the trio of Joe Denly, Lewis Gregory and James Bazley all returning to the pavilion as the Renegades edged just ahead in the 17th over. However, a poor couple of balls to end that Hatzoglou over meant that the pressure was taken away from Heat. Then, the experienced Joe Burns finished the match in style with a flurry of boundaries off Noor Ahmad and Kane Richardson's bowling.
So, that is it. Heat have wrapped up a five-wicket victory with eight balls to spare. In the end, it looks like a comfortable victory for them but it was anything but that. The openers, Chris Lynn and Max Bryant got the team off to a conservative start with 42 on the board after six overs but the latter fell off Peter Hatzoglou's bowling in the seventh over. A couple of overs later, Renegades could have built a lot of pressure on the Heat but Noor Ahmad dropped Chris Lynn off Jack Prestwidge's bowling. This moment saw the floodgates open with Prestwidge offering another chance to Lynn when he bowled the Heat skipper off a no-ball
18.4 Kane Richardson to Joe Burns
4 That's it the game is done. Short ball outside off. Burns gets a thick outside edge on the cut and it goes for a boundary. That has been the story throughout the game for them. No luck for them throughout the game and Heat win the match with eight balls to spare.
18.3 Kane Richardson to Jimmy Peirson
1 Hits the deck hard this time. Pierson doesn't connect the pull well and gets a run to leg gully.
18.2 Kane Richardson to Joe Burns
1 Adjusts to short of the length on the off stump. There is not much pace in it and Burns can rock back and pull it for a run
18.1 Kane Richardson to Joe Burns
4 10 required from 2 overs. And Heat will reduce it to 6 off 11. Full ball in the slot for Burns. It is bowled straight into the wicket line and Burns lofts it over the bowler for a boundary. You are not going to win this game if you keep bowling like that.
