MOM - Thisara Perera has been adjudged the man of the match for his outstanding effort with the ball, picking up 5 wickets for just 21 runs.
When this game is looked back on paper, it would never tell the story of how this had actually been. Kieron Pollard has put in an incredible effort to dig his team out of a big hole and has made sure that TKR open their account in the Hero CPL 2021.
They were great with the ball up ahead, with Isuru Udana ripping through the Barbados line-up, scalping a five-fer in the first innings. They managed to bowl out Barbados for just 122 runs in 19.2 overs, in a wicket that had inconsistent bounce on it. TKR employed their variations well and kept switching bowlers to stop the Barbados batsmen from settling.
Barring Azam Khan and Glenn Phillips, none of the batters looked comfortable, an issue that would provide a lot of headaches for captain Jason Holder and the team management.
Coming into bowl in the second innings, Barbados almost pulled off an incredible heist, picking up four early wickets, courtesy, the evergreen Mohammad Amir. However, it was a Kieron Pollard show from there on. He at first soaked in a lot of pressure, and right at the end he blasted like a cannonball, ripping apart the Barbados hopes in a space of just eight balls, in which he hit 5 sixes.
