Well that's all for today folks! This is Anirudh, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Nikhil and our scorer/analyst Zeeshan! See you on the next one!
Tom Hartley | Hero of the Match: "Was a nice wicket to bowl on. I tried to use the pitch and hoped to get some turn seeing the Women's game. We had a good score on the board. We had to use the cutters and the off spinners. Yes, we lost the first three games but we have picked up the rhythm at the correct time."
MANCHESTER ORIGINALS DEFEAT BIRMINGHAM PHOENIX BY 79 RUNS! They complete a comprehensive victory over the Hosts, outperforming them in all departments of the cricket match.
In the first innings with the bat, Manchester Originals fought and clawed their way to a total of 154/6 from their 100 deliveries. Phil Salt was the star of the night as he scored a well deserved half-century (56 runs off 38 balls). He was well supported by Lammonby's fantastic cameo at the end (26 runs off 14 balls) to help their team cross the 150 run-mark.
Benny Howell was the pick of the bowlers, ending up with the figures of 3/18 from his 20 deliveries.
The chase started off in a fairly land for the Originals as they managed to initiate the collapse from the first set onwards! Post that it was all downhill for the Birmingham Phoenix, as they posted THE LOWEST SCORE OF THE TOURNAMENT! Bundled out for 75, apart from Will Smeed who struck 31 runs off 17 deliveries, none of the batters stuck around. Eventually Manchester Originals kept picking up wickets at regular intervals to complete a dominant victory.
Tom Hartley decimated the Phoenix batting lineup, ending up with the figures of 4/22 from his 20 deliveries.
A poor outing in the field for Birmingham Phoenix, but full credit to Manchester Originals to ensure the game never went away from their control!
W OUT!!! Kane Richardson departs and the Phoenix gets bundled out for the lowest total of HUNDRED. Good length delivery towards the middle, Kane clears up his front leg and he has pulled this toward deep mid-wicket where he has been taken easily.
73b J Little to K Richardson
0 Good length delivery towards the middle, Richardson has blocked this out for no run.
