The second fixture is about to start in 20 minutes time. Montreal Royal Tigers will be up against Toronto Sixers in the second game of today's Canada Super 60 tripleheader. Do join us for the live coverage.
Time for us to wrap up the coverage of this game. Brampton Blitz showed some character in the middle over phase and took the game away from White Rock Warriors. The partnership between Asa Tribe and JJ Smuts proved to be decisive in this game. Courtesy of that, Blitz won the game with an over to spare.
Martin Guptill (Brampton Blitz Captain):"It was a little bit tricky with the new ball. Wasn't easy to get away like batters wanted. Asa (Tribe) and Jon-Jon (Smuts), that one partnership took the game away from us. The Old Bull, Jon-Jon the way he batted and dragged along the young calf was amazing.
[Turning 40 in a few hours] Yeah, will be."
Player of the Match: JJ Smuts
Dilon Heyliger has been named as the 'SG Bowler of the Match'.
Time for the post-match Presentation!
6:39 AM IST and 6:09 PM Local Time: Brampton Blitz, the defending champions have made a great start in the second season of Canada Super 60. They had a few hiccups in the chase, but in the end, they came out victorious by a margin of 3 wickets and with an over to go. JJ Smuts, the impact sub, deserves the credit alongside Asa Tribe.
Blitz won the toss and sent White Rock Warriors to bat first. Warriors lost Sam Billings early in the game, but Nick Hobson regained the momentum for them. He hit 3 sixes to score 22 in his 20-ball stay, but Ricardo Vasconcelos had a terrible day out there in the middle with his 10 off 13 balls. Warriors had a horrible middle over phase with Dwaine Pretorius (9), James Fuller (0), Shivam Sharma (10) departing for cheap scores. They were 72/6 in the final over, but a cameo from Sukhjinder Singh helped them to reach 88/6 after their 10 overs. Sukhjinder scored 16 off 4 balls with a boundary and two sixes.
Hardus Viljoen was the stand-out bowler for Blitz with his 2/8 in 2 overs. Dilon Heyliger took a wicket in his first ball and ended with 2/20. Tom Curran and Ben Raine picked up a wicket each.
