So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Mohammad Anab as we wrap up the coverage of this fixture along with our scorer, Bishal Mandal.
Don't go anywhere as there is a lot more cricketing action awaiting on Thursday including a couple of crucial semi-finals in the Asian Games Men's Cricket Competition.
A fantastic start to the day in the Canada Super 60 as we saw a big chase full of fours and maximums. There are still a couple of fixtures in the Men's event apart from the solitary Women's game waiting to be played today.
Martin Guptill (Brampton Blitz Captain): "(Thought process behind the chase) I think it’s just the realization that anything on this wicket is possible. I mean, that score is probably worth about 120 on a proper-sized ground, given the dimensions here. So, as I said to the guys in there, we can chase anything and hopefully prevail today.
(On key ingredient behind the side continuing winning ways from last season) I think it’s the consistency with which we’ve gone about our game plans. They’re very simple, and the guys have bowled really well. Obviously, we played on a different wicket yesterday, while today was a bit more batter-friendly.
So, I think the guys stuck at it really well, and then there was just some clarity with the bat. The guys came out and struck the ball really nicely, and always kept us within touching distance."
Player of the Match: JJ Smuts
Time for post-match presentations...
04:09 AM IST, 03:39 PM Local Time: What a thrilling game to kick off the Canada Super 60 action on Wednesday as Brampton Blitz beat Toronto Sixers by four wickets. A cracking 157-run chase after the Blitz looked to be on the back-foot for the majority of the chase but the duo of JJ Smuts and Asa Tribe stepped up once again.
Chasing 157 for victory, Alex Hales was a bit unlucky to be caught behind off Tajinder Johal's bowling in the second over as the umpire gave him caught despite not getting a glove onto the ball. In the next over, Martin Guptill departed after a disappointing 2 off 9 while Abdul Topping made it two scalps in the over with the wicket of Yuvraj Samra as well.
Out of nowhere, James Vince smashed Shadley van Schalkwyk for 31 runs in the fourth over with the Brampton Blitz getting to their 50 as well. Vince didn't last long after that though as Daniel Sams had him caught at deep point. Asa Tribe got off to a quick start though to keep the Brampton Blitz alive while JJ Smuts also joined in on the fun. The duo brought the equation down to 37 off 12 balls when Smuts smashed Ali Shamsher Khan for a couple of maximums. The pacer did get his man back by dismissing Smuts but Tom Curran and Tribe still ensured 22 runs came off the over in total.
The Toronto Sixers' captain, Kieron Pollard gave the ball to Imad Wasim with 15 left to defend. The over didn't go so well as Tom Curran smashed a maximum off the third delivery while Imad followed it up with five wides. The game still had another twist waiting as Tajinder Johal ran-out Tribe with Brampton Blitz needing 3 off 2 balls. There would have been pressure on Ben Raine but the southpaw swung hard and got an inside-edge to race past the man at short fine-leg to seal a fantastic chase with a ball to spare.
