The World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2026 continues its cricketing action at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium as Pakistan Champions square off against tournament debutants Bangladesh Champions on Saturday, October 3.

The fixture marks a historic moment for the WCL franchise, introducing a brand-new subcontinental rivalry to the league. Pakistan Champions enter the match as seasoned powerhouses seeking an immediate statement win, while Bangladesh Champions step onto the grand stage eager to prove their mettle and announce themselves in their maiden WCL appearance.

Pakistan Champions arrive in the UAE carrying a strong pedigree, having finished as the runner-up in the WCL 2025 season. Last year, Pakistan dominated the group stage in the United Kingdom to finish atop the points table, advancing to the final before falling to a sensational AB de Villiers century for South Africa Champions. In stark contrast, Bangladesh Champions enter Season 3 with no past WCL scars or net run-rate history, making their official debut in the tournament as the league's seventh franchise.

Pakistan Champions have re-tooled their squad for the 2026 edition while preserving their core group of international match-winners. Leading the side is veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi, flanked by senior stalwarts Mohammad Hafeez, Asif Ali, Kamran Akmal, and Sharjeel Khan, alongside the addition of Iftikhar Ahmed. To bolster their pace department, Pakistan have drafted fast bowler Mohammad Amir alongside Wahab Riaz, Sohail Tanvir, and Rumman Raees, giving them lethal new-ball speed and death-bowling options. On the spin front, Asif Afridi, along with the skipper, remains a key weapon to control the middle overs.

For Bangladesh Champions, their inaugural squad is anchored by former national team icons who bring tremendous international experience. Veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad leads the franchise, joined by Shuvagata Hom and Fazle Mahmud. The squad features dynamic top-order options in Imrul Kayes and Rony Talukdar, alongside all-rounder Nasir Hossain. The bowling attack is spearheaded by seamer Rubel Hossain and Kamrul Islam Rabbi, with the spin department bolstered by the presence of Arafat Sunny and Enamul Haque Jnr.

Playing under the lights in Sharjah, both batting lineups will look to exploit short boundaries and true bounce. Pakistan’s proven WCL experience and explosive power-hitting through Sharjeel Khan and Shahid Afridi make them early favourites. However, Bangladesh’s hunger, spin options, and tactical adaptability under Mahmudullah Riyad make them a dangerous wildcard capable of pulling off a massive debut upset. Catch all the live action, exclusively on CREX, when the match gets underway at 8 PM IST & 6:30 PM Local Time on Saturday.
