Shamima Sultana (Player of the Match): "I love playing my shots, the pitch was bit slow and low, my approach is to bat with aggression and take on the bowlers, sad to have missed out on a fifty, hope to get it next match."
Nigar Sultana Joty (Winning Captain):"I think the way girls bowl today was fantastic and executed the plans properly. We were planning to restrict them to a below-par total and it actually happened. So, that shows the confidence of the girls. I am extremely pleased to contribute to my team.”
Naruemol Chaiwai (Losing captain):"The pitch was a little bit slow, we had to get more power to find the boundaries, which we couldn't do, Maya had the intent to hit the balls, she is an aggressive batter, she can also bowl if required. We will have to improve our bowling for the next game, we should get wickets while defending low score."

10:47 AM IST | The defending Champions have got off to a winning start in the road to defend their trophy, they have completely humiliated Thailand in this opening fixture of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022. The tigers take victory by 9 wickets in front of their elated home crowd.
Bangladesh were put into bowl by Thailand, their bowlers started got their team to an electrifying start, they restricted Thailand to only 16/2 in the powerplay. Nannapat Koncharoenkai 8(12) and Captain Naruemol Chaiwai 2(5) departed quickly. The spinners proved effective for Bangladesh on home soil and they were gripping the ball conveniently from the surface. Nattakan Chantam and Phannita Maya provided some resistance with their 38-run partnership. Maya played with an assertive approach and secured 26(22), including 3 four before throwing her wicket away to Shohely Akhter.
The gates were soon open and Thailand saw a massive collapse, as they got bundled out for 82 after being 54/2 at one stage. Rumana Ahmed was the star with the ball, she got 3/9 off her 3 overs, also Sanjida Meghla, Nahida Akter and Shohely Akter chipped in with 2 wickets apiece for the hosts.
Bangladesh Ladies came with a strong intent to chase this low score, keeper batter Shamima Sultana was toying with the inexperienced Thailand bowlers, she slammed 10 fours in her innings, went on to make 49(30), she was trying for the big hit to get to her fifty, but was bowled in the process to Thipatcha Puttawong, which was the only moment of joy for the visitors.
Fargana Hoque played an anchor to Sultana and stitched an impressive opening stand of 69, which took the winds out of the Thailand sails. Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty provided the finishing touches right at the end, which saw the tigers ease to their destination in just 11.4 overs.
Hang around for the post match presentations.
