It's all over at the Dubai International Stadium as Barmy Army beat the Tornadoes by eight wickets to win the second game of this tournament. Barmy Army won the toss and elected to field and had the Tornadoes openers sent back in the hut in the first couple of overs but then the duo of Sune Luus (66* off 58) and skipper Stafanie Taylor (78* off 54) did very well and added 145 unbeaten runs for the third wicket playing freely to put the total to a challenging 150 in 20 overs. Tara Norris bowled a tidy spell for the Barmy Army having figures of 4-1-21-0, all other bowlers conceded over 7 runs per over.
Barmy Army had a brilliant start to their innings as the Carribean champion Deandra Dottin started the innings with a maximum on the very first ball and continued to play in aggressive manner throughout the innings and also scored the winning runs (with a six of course). Kavisha Kumari opened the batting with her and matched every stroke she could scoring 43 off 42 deliveries. A poor decision to get back for the second run cost her wicket.
Laura Wolvaardt was soon sent back in the hut by Sita Magar and the skipper Heather Knight came in and played a cameo scoring an unbeaten 20 off just nine deliveries with four boundaries to help Dottin to guide the Army to victory.
The bowlers from both the sides failed tonight with Sita Magar the only bowler to get a wicket. All the other three wickets to fall were run outs. With this, the Barmy Army now moves on to the second spot in the points table with 8 points whereas the Tornadoes are placed at number 4 with seven points to their name.
