We have one more match lined up in WCL today's doubleheader between England Champions and West Indies Champions. The preview has been updated there and you can switch tabs to follow the fun!
In the end, the difference was not one moment but the weight of several. Australia survived their own early collapse, rebuilt through Warner and Ferguson, then finished with Dunk's flourish. Bangladesh had Kayes to give them hope and Mahmudullah to keep the dream alive, but too many wickets came at the wrong time. The Australians had built a total together; Bangladesh were left asking one man to chase it alone.
David Warner (Player of the Match & Australia Champions Captain): [on batting in tough conditions] "It was a bit similar to playing golf in the heat yesterday. It was quite challenging but it was nice to get the win.
[on birdies against sixes] I prefer 4 sixes today. It's just good to get out there and have a hit. The boys have batted well and at the end the energy was fantastic.
[on their camp] Unbelievable. It's just to get the boys back together again and playing cricket. Time gets away from you as well when you leave the game and you get a little bit lost. It's good to get the guys back together, have a laugh, play some good cricket and spend some time with each other and tell some stories when we used to play with each other.
[on Dubai] It's beautiful. Plenty of golf. The weather's always great. The sun's always out."
Mohammad Mahmudullah (Bangladesh Champions Captain): (On the team's performance) "Yeah, I think we did enjoy that, just for a bit of time. I think if we could have restricted them to under 150, that would have been a chance.
(On the missed opportunities in the fielding) We got three wickets in the Powerplay, and they had two new men at the crease. If you drop chances, that's not a good day by any means. Australia won the moments after they were under pressure, and we lost the momentum from there. We missed two opportunities. It could have been a different story for the team if we had grabbed those opportunities. But it's part and parcel of the game. At times, we have to accept it, but we have to work a bit better on that.
(On the mood in the camp) Absolutely. I think for this game, we were very up for it, but as I mentioned, we missed the opportunity. We're still looking to put up a performance up front and throughout the game. As long as you're enjoying yourself, I think the victories will come when they come."
