So that's it from the ICC Women's World cup 2022. I hope you enjoyed our coverage throughout the tournament. Ninaad Dixit here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide, Anirudh Modi and our scorer Ashok Daima. Stay tuned for more coverage from across the globe! Stay safe and take care!
Meg Lanning receives the World Cup Trophy and celebrations begin. Time for a team photograph. We can say that this is the 'Best Women's Cricket Team in the World.'
Meg Lanning | Australia Captain: "Absolutely, I think we have been extremely consistent over a long period of time. To come out and perform this way throughout the whole tournament is amazing and I believe we deserved this victory today. We came with a squad mentality, we have had a number of players contributing, young players coming in and performing well, off the field we had an amazing support staff to get where we are today. Healy's innings was incredible, to do it in a world cup final, I'm not surprised she has done this before. She set the base very nicely, and we have had talks like this to lay down a platform for the middle order to explode and that's what happened. Nat Sciver played a very special innings and on any other day they would have won and England are an incredible team. Big shoutout to Darcie Brown to come in and lift the team but injuries are unfortunately a part of sport and we have been able to rise from it. We will celebrate this one for sure, it's important to look back and remember how we came through, to be able to get to the end of this block, it's been a tough period and we are proud to say we are world cup champions. Thank you to England, you played really well. Thank you New Zealand for setting up this tournament. Thank you to our support staff it wasn't possible without you and well done to the team and many more to come hopefully."
The Australian team receive their winner's medals!
Heather Knight | England Captain: "I think it was a 50-50 decision at the toss but it was a bowl first. Credit goes to Australia to bring out a performance like that in a World cup final. That was a remarkable innings, which was not a pleasure to watch but one of the best innings I have ever seen live. It was an amazing wicket, very hard to defend and if we kept them just about 300 then we probably would have a good chance of winning the game. It was a remarkable and unbelievable knock from Nat. Her skill against spin and seam, playing all around the ground. If we had someone to play alongside her and take some risks looking at the total. Building big partnerships is something Australia do regularly and we need to learn it from them, they really take the game away from the opposition. I am super proud of the group how they managed to turn things around, the players and the staff. Yes we have Commonwealth Games at home and the T20 World cup. I think some of the players have been outstanding in the tournament, special mention to Sophie Ecclestone, the leading wicket taker in the cup. Seeing the younger players perform give me immense pleasure. Its been a three-month long tour and the staff has kept us going, lovely to see a big crowd here tonight."
The England team receives their medals from the jury.
Alyssa Healy | Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament: "I'm 32 and have seen it all (laughs). I think our team sets out to win games like these. So everyone is up and ready to go the extra yard to perform at the biggest stage and I'm really grateful for performing in the final. You probably couldn't ask for anything more. I'm really proud of the girls for the way we have batted in this competition. To put these many runs on the board is special and never in my wildest dreams, I would have thought of doing this in the final. The first 10 overs were crucial and both English bowlers were coming out hard with the new ball. So we decided to stay in the middle with the destructive middle order we have. I loved playing with Rach and happy with the performance. Rach did most of the work for us in the tournament and very pleased with the performance."
Alyssa Healy is the Player of the Match. She is also the Player of the Tournament.
Time for the final presentation of this year's World Cup.
Rachael Haynes: "Yeah it was nice to contribute and get some runs, to start of well. Due to the nature of this tournament, you can get on a roll but most importantly it was nice to get the win today. Alyssa's style of play compliments me well but tonight was very special for her and very special for us to watch her play like this. It was a crucible moment for our group (2017), it did not go exactly to plan but to be able to have such a consistent style of play over a long tournament is really special."
