Milestone
That's it from this 3rd T20I here in Belfast. Afghanistan have managed to keep the series alive with the win today. Both teams will take the weekend off and come back on Monday to play the 4th T20I at the same ground. Do join us for that clash and for all other cricketing action happening across the globe in our network across formats. For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentators Ajay Ahire, and scorer/analyst Chandan Kumar Singh. Till next time we meet again, stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan Skipper): "The result in the last couple of games was not in our favor but today got that win. At the start, openers gave good partnership and because of that, we got that total on board. The way we planned in the morning was to put 1 or 2 partnerships in the middle and put on a good total on board. Early wickets always help you to win the game. Today it was a much better performance as a team and hopefully, we will get the win in the last 2 games."
Andrew Balbirnie, Ireland Skipper: "I think batting at the top, we didn't get going and that's where we lost the game. The way George fought, in the end, showed that this was a gettable total. I think we were disappointed to have given 189 away, but we showed the fight and could have gotten the target.

I think Fionn Hand was good. Happy with his performance as he showed fight with the bat and the ball striking was great.

George Dockrell is special for us. He is a quality hitter, and a great bowler and he has been doing a great job for us. So, I am very happy for him and he has been in great form. Tomorrow, we are going to take off.

A bit of training on Sunday. It's important to have days off in this tight schedule. I think we have played good cricket in the last 2-3 days, and today was not our day. We are here to win the series and we hope to seal the series come Monday."
Rahmanullah Gurbaz(Player of the match): 'Of course, after losing two games it was a really important match for us. Feeling great now, as the coach and management said I took my time in the middle and played on the merit of the ball. After a long time, I played with him (Zazai), and was glad to share a good start with him. As a cricketer, you need to be ready for every situation and now we have adjusted to conditions and pitches so hopefully will get a win in the next couple of games."
Chasing a daunting target of 190 to clinch the series today, Ireland lost their way in the powerplay as they lost wickets at regular intervals. The openers Stirling and Balbirnie went for 0 and 1 respectively. Lorcan Tucker looked good while he was out there for his 31 runs off 21 balls while Gareth Delany got into double figures for his 16 runs.

It was George Dockrell with his unbeaten 58 off 37 balls and Fionn Hand on debut with his 36 off 18 balls impressed one and all and took Ireland to 167-9 in 20 overs after they were 5 down for 58 at one stage. Good recovery, but not quite enough. The Irish finisher is in great form.

From Afghanistan's bowling point of view, Fazalhaq Farooqi was good with his 2-11 in 2 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up 3 wickets for 38 runs. Mujeeb ur Rahman was good with his 2-28 in 4 overs. Mohammed Nabi went for 38 runs in 4 overs and he got a wicket. Rashid Khan, for the second match in a row, went wicketless as he was carted and dispatched for 38 runs here. Omarzai was wicketless in his 2 overs for 13 runs. Only 7 extras were given by Afghanistan compared to 13 by Ireland.

Earlier in the game, it was Andrew Balbirnie who won the toss and put Afghanistan into bat first.  Afghanistan got off to a steady start getting to 41 runs in the powerplay. It was Rahmanullah Gurbaz who turned it on after the powerplay as he got to his 4th T20I fifty. He was the first man to go for 53 off 35 when the score was 90 in 11.2 overs. Hazratullah Zazai was the next batter dismissed for 39 off 40 balls as he struggled with his timing.

Ibrahim Zadran continued the tempo with his 36 off 22 balls before being dismissed in the 18th over of the innings. Later, It was Najibullah Zadran who shone through with a cameo of 42 off 18 balls with 5 sixes to his name. His knock pushed Aghanistan to 189-5 in 20 overs. 13 extras were given by Ireland.

Joshua Little has been the pick of the bowlers with 2-29 in 4 overs. A wicket for Gareth Delany and a wicket for debutant Fionn Hand as well. Graham Hume went wicketless and was expensive as well. Delany and Campher bowled but not without the desired result.

A win for Afghanistan over Ireland by 22 runs to reduce the series margin to 2-1 in favor of Ireland. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation ceremony that comes your way next.

A valiant effort from George Dockrell and Fionn Hand comes to an end as they fall short by 22 runs, Afghanistan are the deserved winner in the end by 22 runs to keep the series alive and make it 1-2 in the series. Ireland still leads the series 2-1 with 2 matches to play.

0 A dot ball to end the match. Omarzai nails the wide yorker to perfection and Dockrell fails to get bat on that one. Afghanistan beat Ireland by 22 runs in this third T20I...

WD A wide ball this time. Short ball but too high and needs to reload that one.
