Edinburgh Castle Rockers have tasted their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Amsterdam Flames! It was a commanding performance from the Flames, who climb up to third spot with this victory and remain firmly in the hunt for a playoff berth. The second game of the day is coming up shortly!

Scott Edwards (Amsterdam Flames Captain): "(On such a convincing victory) Yeah, it was really good. The boys made my job a lot easier. I thought the way Brace (Bracewell) led the spin attack and obviously Pringle and TD (Tim David) getting in the act, sort of managed to use those conditions in our favour.

(Was he saying anything to Bracewell from behind the stumps?) Nah, he is a pretty experienced campaigner. He knows everything. He knows where to keep his fielders. So, he knows what to do for the team. I thought he bowled brilliantly and got us in front of the game.

(How important was this victory for his side) Yeah, it was a really important win for us. Just to stay in touch with that top 3. I just don't know the permutations of that top 3. Feels like we are in a good position. Hopefully we can play some good cricket in those last two games.

(Is the management happy with this win?) Yeah, guys are happy. Obviously they love winning and I am sure they will be thrilled with this victory."

Michael Bracewell (Player of the Match): "(At what point did he know that this pitch was ideal for him) Look, when you see the ball spinning a little bit, you know the conditions are in your favour. The first ball I bowled, turned down the leg side and I got a stumping out of it. So, I wanted to make it count.

(Was he trying to bowl his natural deliveries or was he making some extra effort today) I always try to put something extra on the ball and it also depends on the conditions. It's a little bit harder as an off spinner. It was nice today to get a pitch that turned a little bit. I was fortunate enough to bowl in the right areas and get my rewards.

(On Scott Edwards the captain as well as the wicket-keeper) Yeah, he was terrific behind the stumps. He was also cutting down the angles really well. He is a huge asset to have."

Mitchell Santner (Edinburgh Castle Rockers Captain): "(Was he surprised with the way the pitch behaved?) I think it spun more than we anticipated. The wicket was on the slower side. It was a 140 kind of a wicket, I think.

(What happened after the powerplay?) Yeah, boys were going really good. Looked like it came on okay. The way the guys approached at the top was brilliant. Once it started spinning, I think we didn't adapt quickly as we could. I guess 140 would have been alright on that wicket. But it's fine. You can't win them all.

(Approach for the next game after facing a defeat today) I think we have to reflect on our game today. We have to learn from it and move on. I think it's going to be a fresh pitch. Different conditions again. We will reflect on our mistakes and go again."

6:12 PM IST & 1:42 PM Local Time: Amsterdam Flames made light work of this run chase! They have ended Castle Rockers’ winning run in the tournament, cruising to an eight-wicket victory with 31 balls to spare.

Earlier in the day, the Rockers made a steady start after being asked to bat first, with Ross Adair taking the attack on before both he and JJ Smuts fell in successive deliveries. Brandon McMullen kept the momentum going as the Rockers reached 68/2 at the end of the Powerplay, but they completely lost their way thereafter, being strangled by spin on a dry surface and tumbling from 77/2 to 97/6. Skipper Mitchell Santner tried to hold the innings together, but wickets continued to fall at the other end as the Edinburgh Castle Rockers were eventually bowled out for 118 in 18.3 overs, with Michael Bracewell the standout bowler, finishing with sensational figures of 5/12.

In reply, the two Amsterdam Flames openers were watchful early on, finding boundaries at regular intervals to keep the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the Powerplay, the Flames were 45/0, comfortably milking the bowling attack and scoring at a decent rate. The 59-run opening stand was finally broken by Mitchell Santner in the eighth over, with Steve Smith dismissed for 25 off 27 balls. Yuvraj Samra, meanwhile, continued to look comfortable at the crease.

Andrew Tye returned to the attack in the ninth over and opted to bowl spin on the dry surface. The gamble backfired as Yuvraj took him for two sixes in the over. Jack Jarvis was introduced in the 11th over and struck with his very first delivery, dismissing Yuvraj for a well-made 40.
