The Dublin Guardians just haven't been able to taste victory so far in the tournament. They had every reason to believe they would today, particularly when James Vince and Harry Tector took them to a commanding position. But once Vince departed, the pendulum swung towards the Amsterdam Flames, and stayed there for good. Scott Edwards looks really pleased with the win in the post-match presentation, and for good reason. A come-from-behind win for the Flames, they stay in the hunt for the semi-final, and will be back tomorrow for their next game.
Scott Edwards (Amsterdam Flames Captain): "[on the close game] Yeah, it was. It didn't flow the whole way through here. They were probably well on top at one stage in the 2nd innings and just super proud of the way boys fought back, got us into a 50-50 position and the way they closed it out in the end was awesome.
[on the batting slide] We felt like the wicket was a little bit tricky and fair play to Dublin. They bowled well, they kept us wide with pace on and pace off. We weren't going anywhere, lost a couple of wickets and the way that Curtis batted at the end there to get us to what we thought was about par. Maybe a little bit over par which was awesome.
[on the bowling tactics] The powerplay didn't go exactly to plan. The way Vince started, he put us under a lot of pressure. Targeted the short boundary. Put them into a pretty good position. We needed some bowlers to bring it back for us. All 3 of our spinners under pressure found ways to build dots. We felt like we were back in the game and just had to close with a couple of good overs.
[on chat between him and Gleeson before his comeback over] We felt like we needed to get a breakthrough and it pretty much did have to be Vince. He was coming on for one over there to try and get that breakthrough and bowled phenomenally all day.
[on the spinners] It got a little bit slower, the ball got a bit softer. All the 3 guys were crafty the way they went about it. It's different out here with big sides, lots of wind, wicket sometimes has a little hold. If you bowl really good spin you can dominate on this ground.
[on the momentum] Not the ideal start to the tournament. We felt like we probably did have to get a couple of wins especially in these home fixtures. Stoked for the guys and feel like we're playing some pretty good cricket. Still a lot of work to do to get to our best but pretty happy with how these last couple of games have gone."

Ravichandran Ashwin (Dublin Guardians Captain): [his assessment] "Hard to assess that. We are just finding ways to lose games now. We were better last game. We batted decently and it was up for the taking especially after James Vince's knock. We should have been able to seal it from there on but when you're down, you find ways to lose games and that's exactly what happened.
[on the difficulty as a team] Gelling isn't one of the problems that we are having at this point of time. There is a good camaraderie inside the dugout. They are playing for one another. There is an intent to learn, there is an air of excitement for some of these players over here. At this moment we are not nailing those perfect deliveries when we are bowling. While we are batting we are just giving up situations like what we did today. We should have been able to ice this one.
[on the learnings] Learning is something that happens only when you commit those mistakes. No better way to learn in life and just in the game as well. These mistakes will hopefully give them a lesson that they can learn and try and chase this a little better this time. We've managed a very decent dressing room atmosphere despite the losses that we've had. We'll continue to do that because our goal is to keep improving and eventually knock that 1 win off."

10:20 PM IST, 6:50 PM Local Time: An incredible fightback from the Amsterdam Flames help them seal a 9-run win over the Dublin Guardians. The chips seemed down in their camp at the halfway stage of the run-chase, but once Richard Gleeson accounted for the well-set James Vince, the Flames bowlers rose to the occasion, kept things really tight, and prevented a way back for the Dublin Guardians altogether.
Steve Smith helped the Amsterdam Flames get off to a flier after they were sent in to bat earlier today. Ravichandran Ashwin took a gamble by starting proceedings with Vijay Shankar, which did not pay off. The Flames had 31 in the first two overs, with Smith hitting 21 of them. Yuvraj Samra failed to get going, departing in the 3rd over, but Bas de Leede walked in and got going straight away. Ashwin and Matt Hollard did well to close out the powerplay as the Flames piled up 60 in the first six. The Guardians then managed to pull things back in the middle overs, keeping it really tight by going pace-off and using spin.
Tim David took on Matt Hollard in the tenth over and tried to inject some momentum back into their innings, but the Flames lost Steve Smith in the next over in rather bizarre fashion - bowled by George Dockrell after the ball snuck through his legs. The boundaries dried up as the innings headed towards its latter stages, and the Flames needed someone to step up and deliver a good finish. Curtis Campher turned out to be the man for the job - he ran hard between the wickets and found the boundaries frequently, taking the Flames past 160 in the process. The Flames finished on 169 in their 20 overs, with Campher scoring 32 off 19 before being run out off the penultimate delivery.
