So, that is it from the first game of the day. This was me, Arjun Bhalla with co-commentators, Akshay Bhide and Sourya. We will be back soon with the ball-to-ball commentary of the second match where the Sixers will be taking on the Renegades.
D 'Arcy Short is awarded the Man of the Match prize for his 72 off 48 in the first innings.
For Hurricanes, all the bowlers did some applaudable job. Especially Faulkner, Botha, Rilley, and Ellis. Faulkner and Botha provided them breakthroughs at the start while Ellis and Rilley were sensational in the end.
Nevertheless, a solid batting display by Worrall who scored 62 off 39 balls, and by Briggs as well for his 35 runs in just 18 balls.
They capitalized by smacking boundaries in 16th, 17th, and the 18th over. The equation was 26 runs from the last two overs. Nathan Ellis bowled an exceptionally well 19th over and gave just eight runs. Then, Scott Boland backed him to bowl a six-run over. In the end, the chasing team fell 11 runs short of the target.
Worrall first had a mini partnership with Renshaw but soon the latter was dismissed by Faulkner. Worrall was still in the middle, trying to pull off an impossible. He tried his luck with Danny Briggs (the number 11th batter). The duo started building a partnership and playing their strokes.
Adelaide Strikers were always off the game from the start of the second innings. They started losing quick wickets in the powerplay over but Matt Renshaw was being the lone warrior for his side. Strikers were six down before the halfway stage and then came Daniel Worrall in at number 8.
Hobart Hurricanes register a win just by 11 runs here at Hobart. What a sensational eleventh wicket stand between Briggs and Worrall. Kudos to them and in Kapil Dev's words, 'Today, cricket has won'. Really, what a T20 game it was!
