During the southern derby at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB put on a sensational batting show, scoring 250 for 3 in 20 overs after being invited to bat. Kohli fell for 28 off 18, while Phil Salt scored 46 off 30 before Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar stitched a terrific 58-run partnership off just 21 balls.

While Padikkal scored 50 off 29, Patidar hit 48 not out off 19. After Padikkal's wicket, Patidar forged a 99-run stand off just 35 balls with Tim David. The Australian giant smashed 70 not out off 25, smashing the CSK bowlers all around the park.

That being said, let’s take a look at the top five highest team totals in the ongoing 19th edition of the Indian Premier League

5. RCB 203/4 vs SRH, March 28, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

A complete performance kick-started the defending champions' title defence, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru chased a mammoth 202-run target. Reaching the target in just 15.4 overs with six wickets to spare, they eventually ended at 203/4.

After Jacob Duffy set the tone with early strikes, batters Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, and Rajat Patidar ensured the chase was a formality.

4. KKR 220/4 vs MI, March 29, Wankhede Stadium

In the second match of the ongoing season of the cash-rich tournament, Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR smashed 220/4 while batting first. Rahane, who at the toss said that he had "never seen so much of grass at Wankhede", scored 67 off 40 balls while Angkrish Raghuvanshi, another Mumbai lad, made 51 off 29 as KKR got a big total on the board.

3. MI 224/4 VS KKR, March 29, Wankhede Stadium

In their opening match of the season Mumbai Indians (224/4) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (220/4) by 6 wickets at Wankhede Stadium, chasing a 221-run target with 5 balls to spare. Ryan Rickelton (81) and Rohit Sharma (78) dominated with a 148-run opening partnership, breaking MI’s 14-year season-opener losing streak.

In the pursuit, they scored the second-highest team total in the league so far. This was also Mumbai Indians' highest-ever successful run chase in IPL history, surpassing their 219-run chase against CSK in 2021.

2. SRH 226/8 vs KKR, April 2, Eden Gardens

Coming off a fresh defeat against the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in the opening fixture of the IPL 2026, despite setting a strong total of 202, the Ishan Kishan-led SunRisers Hyderabad smashed a grand 226-run team total against KKR at their home ground, Eden Gardens.

The last over added 15 runs as Heinrich Klaasen reached his fifty with two crisp boundaries before falling while attempting another big shot. Blessing Muzarabani struck twice in the over, removing Klaasen and Shivang Kumar to finish with an impressive four-wicket haul.

Despite the late wickets, SRH close strongly with boundaries and push their total to 226/8, the second highest team total in the IPL 2026 so far.

1. RCB 250/3 vs CSK, April 5, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a batting masterclass to post a huge total of 250/3 in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings. After losing Virat Kohli in the powerplay, Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal stitched up a solid partnership. The hosts finished the power play 51 for 1.

The real game-changing moment came in the death overs when Tim David went on a rampage. He smashed the bowlers all around the ground and scored a brilliant unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls. His explosive hitting, especially a 30-run over, completely shifted the game in RCB’s favour, posting 250/3. This is the highest score of the season so far.
