England have completed a 3-0 Test series sweep over Pakistan after winning the third Test at Edgbaston. Joe Root’s side has played some excellent cricket, making a strong comeback after losing 2-1 to New Zealand earlier this summer.

The clean sweep has also changed the World Test Championship 2025-27 points table, with England’s win improving their points tally, while the result could also impact India’s WTC Final qualification scenario.

England's WTC Position After 3rd Test Win vs Pakistan

England’s eight-wicket win against Pakistan in the 3rd Test at Edgbaston was their seventh victory in 16 matches in the current WTC cycle. They now have 74 points and a 38.54 PCT, but remain sixth in the WTC points table.

(WTC Points Table)

Despite their recent turnaround, England’s WTC Final qualification chances still look bleak. They have already lost eight matches in this cycle and dropped crucial points due to slow over rates, leaving them with a PCT of 38.54 after the Pakistan series.

England has 5 away Tests against South Africa and Bangladesh in this WTC cycle. Even if they win all five remaining Tests without losing points for slow over rates, England can reach only 134 points from 252, taking their PCT to 53.17, which is unlikely to be enough.

Even though England’s win over Pakistan in the third Test does not help their own WTC Final chances much, let’s take a look at whether the result actually affects India’s WTC Final qualification scenario.

England's Win vs Pakistan Does Not Affect Much in India's WTC Final Qualification Scenario

England remain sixth in the WTC points table after their 3-0 series win over Pakistan, sitting below India and still a long way behind Shubman Gill’s side. India are fifth with 68 points from 5 wins in 11 matches and a PCT of 51.52.

In addition, Pakistan’s defeat in the third Test does not change much either, as they continue to remain at the bottom of the WTC points table. They have won only two of their nine matches, collecting 16 points with a PCT of 14.81.

With England still so much behind India in WTC points table and Pakistan already at the bottom, England’s win vs Pakistan does not really affect India’s WTC Final qualification scenario.

Does England Winning All Their Remaining Matches Affect India’s WTC Final Qualification Scenario?

England have five away Tests remaining, including three against South Africa and two against Bangladesh. Even if they win all five without losing points for slow over rates, they can reach only 134 points from 252, taking their PCT to 53.17, which should not directly affect India.

However, the bigger impact could come through South Africa and Bangladesh, who are currently ahead of India in the WTC table. Especially if England beat second placed South Africa in all three Tests, they could seriously dent the Proteas’ qualification chances.

So yes, even though England’s win over Pakistan did not affect India’s WTC Final qualification scenario, England’s remaining Tests could help India, considering India avoid slipping up in their remaining seven Tests, their PCT could rise to 70.37.
