6:11 PM IST & Local Time: Italy, with a scintillating performance, have beaten the UAE by a handsome margin of 112 runs. First, they outclassed Ireland and have now beaten the Asian side in both warm-up matches ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
After putting 193/7 on the board, the Italian bowlers were on fire. JJ Smuts got the opposition skipper on a golden duck, before Grant Stewart took the next three wickets in his 1.1 overs, and Ali Hasan got one more. At the end of the powerplay, Italy had half of the UAE side back in the hut.
Crishan Kalugamage followed up with bagging wickets one after the other. He scalped a total of three wickets in his four-over spell. For the UAE, Mohammad Zuhaib Khan and Muhammad Farooq showed some character with a 31-run partnership for the 9th wicket. Eventually, Ben Manenti broke it on his first ball, while JJ Smuts took the final wicket of the game.
With the bat, for Italy, Anthony Mosca and Justin Mosca shared an opening stand of 82 runs. Down the order, Harry Manenti, his elder brother, and Stewart scored some impactful cameos as they posted a giant total of 193/7.
W WICKET!!! End of the UAE innings. They are all out for 81 inside 19 overs. Italy win this warm-up fixture by 112 runs. They register their second warm-up win while UAE lose both their practice games. Coming to the ball. Tossed up. Slow in the air. Fullish, wide outside off. Comes forward and looks to drive it. Reaches towards the ball with his bat but plays the shot a tad early as he didn't anticipate a flighted delivery. Gets beaten in flight and the ball hits the leading outside edge. It then lobs up in the air and the backward point fielder runs to his left to take a low catch. A commanding performance from Italy. They are definitely a side to watch out for in this ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
18.1 J Smuts to M Farooq
0 Left arm around. Short of length, wide outside off. Quicker in the air. Looks to slash it but gets beaten on outside.
JJ Smuts to bowl his third and the second-last over of the innings.
