Milestone
That brings us to the end of our coverage for this match. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. The commentators were Darpan Tikiya and Ajay Pal Singh. The scorer was Yogesh Kumar

With several boxes checked post tonight's outing, Suryakumar Yadav and co. will now travel to Mumbai, where they face USA on the opening day of the World Cup (i.e. Saturday, February 7) Meanwhile, South Africa will fly to Ahmedabad to gear up for their encounter against Canada on Monday, February 9.

Like always we will be there to call the action. Don't forget to tune in. Goodbye for now! 👋

Feel free to scroll below Kishan's quote to read the elaborate summary of the match ⬇️
Ishan Kishan: "[On when he got to know that he will open] I did find out a day prior to this game. Was very much excited for this opportunity. I wanted to open the innings. Enjoyed batting at 3 as well. World Cup coming up, even if I was to bat at any number, I was looking to do my best.

[Key to his batting] I think it is just about looking at the ball and be in present. Play the shots that are required at that time. Just trying to watch the ball and play.

[On his knock and approach] I think there are days, some days you are feeling good and some days you are not. I have to credit the pitch, it was tremendous to bat on in the second innings. They didn't bat well and still lost just by 30 runs. I was just trusting the wicket and the bounce. This close to the World Cup, it is important for us to be in that mindset, if the ball is there and a fielder is there, you have to go for it.

[On Tilak Varma's comeback] I think it is very important for us. He is not a batter anymore. He gives us a few overs as well when two left-handers are batting in the middle. Him coming in is important for our team. He is a good fielder, the way he is batting these days, you need someone who can rotate strike at number 3.

[On bowling] There's always room for improvement. I feel on this wicket, we did quite well. They bowled well, there's room for improvement. Maybe we will have a look at it in the team meeting."
10:35 PM IST, local time: The finalists of the last edition have 'warmed-up' for the upcoming World Cup with a run-fest, much to the delight of the massive crowd that gathered at the DY Patil Stadium tonight. 450 runs were scored. 33 towering sixes were hit. Navi Mumbai was treated to an entertaining final dress rehearsal. India won the match by 30 runs.

As expected, both teams tried a few different things — in the absence of Quinton de Kock, George Linde opened the innings for South Africa; Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube and Abhishek Sharma delivered 8 overs for India, Axar Patel bowled just one etc.

But one thing did not change — Ishan Kishan's approach up top. He exploded like a pocket-sized dynamite and entertained the 43,000+ crowd with some fearless shot-making. He retired after completing his half-century. Meanwhile, despite hitting three fours and a sumptuous six over extra cover, Abhishek did not look at his fluent best.

The same could be said about Rinku Singh who found it tough to create his own pace against Lungi Ngidi's skilfully executed slower balls. However, the others made the pitch looked like a belter. Tilak Varma hit the ground running and showed no signs of rust, Suryakumar Yadav carried his good form, Axar Patel got the much-needed time out in the middle and Hardik Pandya bossed the proceedings during his 10-ball-30.

And just like that, India notched-up a massive 240. How belligerent that ball-striking was? Perhaps, ask Anrich Nortje, who got carted around for 57 in 3 overs. Interestingly, Keshav Maharaj did not take the field.

It was always going to be a daunting climb for Aiden Markram and co. But the captain set the right tone with a 19-ball-38. Ryan Rickelton, who batted at 3, almost overshadowed him with a swashbuckling 21-ball-44. Brevis and Miller failed to impress, while Marco Jansen stole the show with an effervescent cameo of 31 (16) before falling to Abhishek's left arm spin.

There was a battle within the battle. Tristan Stubbs and Jason Smith might be competing for the same spot in SA's first XI. The latter seemed to have stolen it with a sprightly knock initially. However, Stubbs turned it around after a scratchy start and smoked Shivam Dube for three sixes in the last over to stake his claim.

India did not field Jasprit Bumrah or Washington Sundar and gave Harshit Rana only one over. Hardik Pandya bowled two up top and Kuldeep Yadav delivered a couple of expensive ones in the middle. Varun Chakaravarthy impressed with figures of 2-0-12-1.

19.6 S Dube to T Stubbs
1 Full and wide outside the off stump. Stubbs drills it to long off for a single. India win by 30 runs in this warm-up game and make a statement for all the teams that they are ready to defend their crown.
Spare a thought for Shivam Dube. Stubbs is on 44* (20). One ball remains.
19.5 S Dube to T Stubbs
6 SIX AGAIN!!!! Three in a row for Stubbs!!! Low full toss outside the off stump. Stubbs goes deep in his crease and muscles it over long on for half-a-dozen runs.
What did we tell you after the last ball of the previous over? Stubbs is gaining confidence. Dube might be losing some. The total has moved to 200!
