Match Details

Opting to bat first, the Thunders got off to a dream start, courtesy of a commanding 83-run opening partnership. Jermaine Blackwood set the tone with a brisk 51 off 30 balls, while Cheteshwar Pujara anchored the innings superbly with a composed 58 off 43 deliveries. However, despite the strong platform, the Thunders failed to capitalise in the latter stages and finished on 172/6 at the end of 20 overs. The lack of contribution from the lower order proved costly. Credit must go to the Warriors’ bowlers, who pulled things back brilliantly after a loose start—Pawan Negi and Diwesh Pathania were the standout performers, picking up two wickets apiece.
In reply, the Warriors found themselves in deep trouble early on, reeling at 61/5. Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, Sheldon Jackson produced a match-winning knock, holding the innings together with an unbeaten 59 off 38 balls. He found excellent support from Seekkuge Prasanna, who came in lower down the order and played a sensational cameo, smashing an unbeaten 36 off just 14 deliveries to seal the chase.
The Thunders’ bowlers had started strongly, with Stuart Broad striking twice in the powerplay. Skipper Thisara Perera also impressed during the middle overs, claiming two wickets. However, their bowling lacked penetration at the death, allowing the Warriors to finish the game with composure.
With this defeat, the Gurugram Thunders bow out of the tournament, while the Delhi Warriors march on, unbeaten and full of confidence.
