That marks the end of our coverage of the 5th match of the World Legends Pro T20 2026 between Delhi Warriors and Pune Panthers. Delhi Warriors outplayed their opponents and got a victory by a huge margin of 59 runs. Tomorrow we have two matches coming up. Rajasthan Lions and Dubai Royals will lock horns in the afternoon game and in the evening, Maharashtra Tycoons and Gurugram Thunders will compete.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Utsav Chandak and the scorer/analyst of this match Yogesh Kumar. Good night.
Harbhajan Singh (Delhi Warriors Skipper): "Yeah, not too bad. Enjoying being back on the field. Few days result will go in your favor and few days it will not. As long as we are putting the effort in the field, I am ok with it.
The way Chadwick has been batting for the last 2 games, it has been sensational and fingers crossed I hope it continues this way. Irfan Pathan came out good with the bat, Gurkeerat came good with the bat. We gave Shahbaz the new ball. It is never easy to bowl with the new ball and he got the two wickets early. When we got the wickets of Shane Watson and Martin Guptill, 60% of the game was in our hand."
Shahbaz Nadeem (Legend of the Match):"Yes it feels good to play such a competitive tournament after long. With so many legends around, it is good to come here and play. To help your team in winning feels good.
We are always there and our plan is to give our 100%. Competition is huge here. Walton is hitting nicely. We want to keep the commitment going. Always an honour playing under Bhajju pa (Harbhajan Singh). There's no pressure. He always says to give your 100% on the field."
Legend of the Match: Shahbaz Nadeem
Time for the post match presentation.
Shane Watson (Pune Panthers Captain):"We just wanted to continue with the momentum for the first game but unfortunately Delhi team batted really well. Their batters kept coming and finding the boundaries. They did well in the fielding and also has some quality bowlers in their line-up. A very high standard of cricket they have played.
I mean Mishra bowled well and got couple of crucial wickets. Shinwari was brilliant. He is an aggressive hitter and hit the biggies. I think we have to bat well in the back end. Batting first could've been better today I think. They batted better than us.
We got Kieron Pollard coming in and there will be a change in the captaincy. We have got a day off and when we come back, we have to do better."
Chadwick Walton(Delhi Warriors): "Just to give our best. Harbhajan is an excellent leader. I enjoyed the innings from Pathan and enjoyed my innings as well.
(On the next match's plan) We will have to wait and see."
Chadwick Walton has received the orange cap for being the leading run getter of the tournament so far.
11:16 PM IST and Local Time: Rahul Shukla takes the final wicket and wraps up the Pune Panthers innings. Delhi Warriors have been clinical today and clinched a victory by a huge margin of 59 runs. This will help them as it is a massive boost to their NRR.
Pune Panthers won the toss and sent the Delhi Warriors to bat first. But they made a few blunders in the fielding to allow the Warriors to cruise through. Shreevats Goswami was dropped twice and Chadwick Walton was dropped once by DJ Bravo and the Warriors opener made merry once they became set. The opening stand yielded 117 runs out of which Walton's contribution was 62 off 32 balls hitting 5 fours and as many sixes. His fellow opener also reached half-century but got out on 51 from 3 balls with 8 fours and a maximum. Delhi Warriors faced another jolt as they lost Saurabh Tiwary for a low score. But the pair of Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Irfan Pathan made sure no other dismissal happens. They added 86 runs for the fourth wicket in their unbeaten partnership and took the team score to 218/3. Pathan scored 49* off 26 and Gurkeerat Singh Mann remained unbeaten on 44 playing same number of balls. Amit Mishra took a couple of wickets and Abhishek Sakuja took a wicket for the Panthers.
Pune Panthers came in pursuit of a hefty target of 219 runs and found themselves in a spot of bother. They lost Shane Watson and Martin Guptill cheaply. They sent Robin Uthappa as an impact sub but he also got out cheaply. The onus then shifted to Upul Tharanga and Samiullah Shinwari to make a strong partnership. They took the responsibility and rotated the strike with a few occasional boundaries. The boundaries became more regular as they got more set and registered a partnership of 89 runs for the fourth wicket. Upul Tharanga got to his fifty in 31 balls but got out in a miserable way. Harbhajan got his fingertips on a straight hit by Shinwari and deflected to the stumps. Tharanga was short of his crease and got out for 50. A few balls later, Shinwari found the fielder in the deep off Shahbaz Nadeem for 52. It became tougher for Panthers after that. Dwayne Bravo, Rahul Yadav, Faiz Fazal- all failed to carry the innings forward and eventually the Panthers got bundled out for 159.
Shahbaz Nadeem was the star of the show picking up 3 wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs. Isuru Udana also took 3 wickets giving 22 runs away from his 4 overs. Harbhajan Singh and Subodh Bhati chipped in with a wicket each.
