That's it from our coverage of match 2 in the World Legends Pro T20 2026! Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay tuned for more action from around the world.
Shane Watson (Pune Panthers Captain): "We played very nicely. We got a very well balanced batting and bowling unit. Guptill has been some playing some cricket and we saw what he can do. We got a well balanced squad, Kieron Pollard is coming in after game 2 along with Robin Uthappa. We have 5 games in 6 days that will be the ultimate challenge but we are confident."
Martin Guptill (Legend of the Match): "It could be a tricky if you lose a couple of wickets but we managed to get ahead of the run rate. Played a lot of cricket with Rosco and Colin de Grandhomme but it was good fun playing against them, some banter in there as well.

I'll just turn up tomorrow when we go again. Today doesn't matter when you go again tomorrow."

Thisara Perera (Gurugram Thunders Captain)"As a batting unit we didn't click well. We couldn't pass the 180-run mark. We were 15-20 runs short. As a team we planned well because they have a good batting lineup. We wanted to target their bowlers and put them under pressure with 175. Stuart Broad told me he was bowling after 2 and a half years so I had to look after him because we have 5 more matches."
7:12 PM IST, Local Time: Pune Panthers kick start their campaign with a 4-wicket victory over Gurugram Thunders in the World Legends T20 2026 at Goa!

The win was set up by a brilliant bowling display from the entire bowling attack. The experienced Dwayne Bravo stood out with 2/25 and helped contain Thunders to 159/5 in 20 overs with Ross Taylor top scoring with an unbeaten 41 off 26 balls.

Another Kiwi batter had a good outing in the field as Martin Guptill opening the innings smashed 68 in 28 balls with 4 fours and 7 maximums. Samiullah Shinwari was the next top scorer with 21 in 10 balls hitting a four and 2 sixes before a slower one from Colin de Grandhomme bamboozled him and took the off bail.

After a tidy display with the ball, Bravo finished the game with the bat as well remaining unbeaten on 12. Stuart Broad picked up Shane Watson earlier in his spell, impact player Saurin Thakar picke up 1/32, Akshay Wakhare was expensive and dismissed Priyank Panchal, Jermaine Blackwood was targeted by Guptill with a hat-trick of sixes but the military medium bowler got the last laugh.

Stay tuned as we return with the post match presentation.
