The first night at the World Legends Pro T20 Leage has been a super hit one! The players have come to Goa for the first time for some cricket and they have had a blast. We saw almost 400 runs being scored today and a centurion as well.
We will be back tomorrow, and it is time for a double header! The Gurugram Thunders will take on the Rajasthan Lions at 2:30 PM IST and they will be followed by the Pune Panthers coming up against the Maharashtra Tycoons at 7:30 PM IST!
On this note, I, Manan Mehta would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues, Utsav and Raju Khariya. B-byeee!
Harbhajan Singh (Delhi Warriors Captain): "It is amazing playing cricket in front of so many people and it is a new venue. Credit goes to them as well, for coming out in these huge numbers, watching the game and supporting the game. Luckily, we won the toss today, which made our lives easier and Chadwick Walton's knock was brilliant and also Shreevats'.
(On team environment) I think happy dressing room is a winning dressing room. It is a simple formula from my playing days. I make sure the people around me, stay happy, stay calm. It is a part of the game, sometimes you lose games from winning positions, sometimes you win games from nowhere, so that can only happen when the team environment is positive. Wherever I go to play, I make sure one thing that the dressing room is a happy place.
(On getting Dhawan out) It feels great to play alongside my team mates, Shikhar Dhawan is like a brother to me. I almost got him in the previous ball but couldn't get the wicket. The next ball was not there for a wicket but that is how cricket works, sometimes good balls go for six and that ball wasn't the best of balls but still got the wicket. It was a good outing, playing alongside Shikhar. It is always a pleasure.
Chadwick Walton (POTM): "It was definitely a good batting wicket, so I enjoyed playing here. Hopefully I can continue this.
The skipper tells us to play positive and give our 100%. Very relaxed changing room. The crowd was superb and hopefully it goes like this for the rest of the games."

Time for post match presentation
Shikhar Dhawan (Dubai Royals Captain): "It never felt like 190 was a good total. I think dew played a very big part. The wicket got much better with the onset of dew and Walton played an excellent knock, an unbelievable knock. Yeah, if he had scored 10-15 runs more, it would not have made a difference honestly. The wicket was good even when we were batting, but still odd balls were keeping low and gripping. But, with the onset of dew, the bounce increased and run coring became easy. Of course, they batted really well.
(On bowling effort) We gave a lot of runs in the opening overs and dropped a lot of catches. If we drop catches it will become too difficult for us to gain momentum. We will get to the drawing board and come back stronger.
(On his own batting) Yeah, I got out to an inside edge, so it was a bit unfortunate. It is good fun. I enjoyed my batting as it was a really good wicket.
(On the fans) I am really happy that we are having a league in Goa. I am really thankful for the fans to show up, whether they are local fans or tourists and glad that we have gotten an opportunity to entertain them.
11:08 PM IST and Local Time: Delhi Warriors win by 9 wickets! This has been an absolute drubbing from the Delhi Warriors. They have made 197 look like a well below par total. We have been treated to a Chadwick Walton special, and the Royals have a lot to think about going forward into the tournament.
The Delhi Warriors won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Royals started off well on the back of Shikhar Dhawan scoring some quick boundaries early on. He was dismissed by his opposite number Harbhajan Singh.
Peter Trego joined Kirk Edwards and the former started nailing boundaries very early on. Edwards took some time to get into the groove and then he too flexed his muscles after some nudging around. The pair took the score to 125/1 in just 11 overs. That is when Harbhajan returned into the attack and got rid of Edwards who was dismissed for 41. Ambati Rayudu walked in and supported Trego. The pair pushed the score to 151 before Trego was knocked over for a well made 60.
Before that wicket, 220-30 looked like a great possibility but post that wicket, the Warriors gained some control. Suboth Bhati bowled a beautiful spell and ran through the middle order. The Royals could not capitalize on the great start they got and were restricted to 196/6 in 20 overs. It looked below par with the dew all set to come in the second innings. The pick of the bowlers for the Warriors were Suboth Bhati (3-37) and Harbhajan Singh (2-25).
The chase started on the best note for the Warriors. 6 runs in 0 balls with 5 wides and another wide after that to start. The first over went for 19. It felt like it was going to be a tough outing with the ball for the Royals. It sure was. Chadwick Walton and Shreevats Goswami notched up a 159 run opening stand in reply. That too in just 13 overs.
Walton was the aggressor and was timing it beautifully from ball one. Goswami took his time initially and then once he got a hang of the pace of the wicket, he too started creaming boundaries for fun. Walton caught on to 5th gear very early and raced to a heroic first T20 hundred of just 49 balls. Goswami reached his 50.
Piyush Chawla broke the partnership for the Royals but that was the only thing they could cheer about in their bowling innings. Gurkeerat Singh Mann joined Walton, and the pair saw the Warriors through. Chadwick Walton ended with 128 Not Out of 62 balls!
There was nothing impressive about the Royals bowling card. They had a couple of really elementary chances go down in the field as well and they will have to improve in these departments in their next outing.

4 FOUR RUNS! Chadwick Walton finishes things off with a beautiful shot. Full and outside off. Walton has cut it away to deep point and finds a boundary. 128 from the big Caribbean off just 62 balls and Delhi Warriors have managed to get over the line with 9 wickets and 21 balls to spare.
