Milestone
It has been a very long game of cricket between Bangladesh U19 and Zimbabwe U19. A lot to do with the slow over rates as well. However, with this contest, two sides complete their world cup campaigns. Unfortunately for Zimbabwe they go winless in a home World Cup but they have found plenty of good starts across the month. For Bangladesh, this was a confidence booster win to end the World Cup on a good note.

Tomorrow, we have the all-important India vs Pakistan clash coming our way from Bulawayo. A win for India secures them the semifinal spot. A BIG win for Pakistan secures them the semifinal spot.

On this note, I, Manan Mehta would like to take your leave on behalf of my colleagues Arjun Bhalla and Yogesh Kumar. B-byeee...
Azizul Hakim (Bangladesh U19 Captain): "Thanks to the Almighty. It was a wonderful victory for us today. We lost a few games and lost some crucial points today. But the boys showed real character.

These two boys (Iqbal Hossain Emmon and Al Fahad) are really hardworking, they have been putting in solid work for the past two years.

Thanks to ICC and Zimbabwe for hosting a great tournament. A special mention for the support to the people back home in Bangladesh."
Simbarashe Mudzengerere (Zimbabwe U19 Captain): "Yeah I just told myself that I need to give myself time. Just stay on the wicket and try to bat 50 overs.

The top order batter should have given themselves time. They couldn't. If you have wickets in hand, you can always catch up.

Very impressed from Shelton. We expect that from him. He is a big hitter for us. It is an honor to have the world cup here and leading the side. To face the pressure and everything that comes with it. Thank you to the Zimbabwe cricket board to trust in me for this job.

Personally, I saw that it doesn't take winning to learn. When you are losing, you learn a lot of things. Thank you everyone. It was a great world cup. You guys supporting us gave us great confidence."
Iqbal Hossain Emmon (POTM): "I am very grateful that we ended with a win and I could contribute. Hopefully, better things will come in the future. We had a strong squad, and a lot of players will play for Bangladesh's national team from this batch."
Player of the Match: Iqbal Hossain Emmon
9:23 PM IST and 5:53 PM Local Time: Bangladesh U19 win by 74 runs! Phew! Bangladesh have outplayed Zimbabwe here in Harare. However, it is not the most convincing victory as the last 2 hours felt like a snoozefest despite Bangladesh having a grip on the game in the first 15 overs of the chase. They let the Zimbabwean batters bat almost 50 overs and were incapable in closing out the game earlier.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. They started very slowly with the bat. They were functioning at snail speed and that was making it tricky for them. They also lost three wickets in the process and were struggling at 80/3 in 21 overs.

That is when the most profitable partnership of the innings took place. Captain Azizul Hakim and Rizan Hossain led the counterattack. They started attacking the bowlers and stitched a 73 runs stand.

Hakim fell for 59 and the score was 153 at that point. Rizan soon got dismissed for 47 and the Bangladeshi side encountered a collapse. From 153/3 they slipped to 211/8 as the middle and lower order slipped completely.

Some late order hits from Al Fahad and Shariar Ahmed gave them a much needed boost at the back end as they propelled the score to 253/9 at the end of 50 overs. The pick of the bowlers for the Zimbabwean side were Tatenda Chimugoro, Michael Blignaut and Shelton Mazvitorera as all three bowlers took 2 wickets each. The score seemed under par as the wicket was said to be a batting paradise.

The chase did not begin on the best note for the home side as the express pace of Iqbal Hossain Emmon blew away the top order. He took 4 out of the top 5 wickets with extreme zip and immaculate accuracy and left Zimbabwe at 54/5. He bowled 8 overs on the bounce as Zimbabwe got some relief once he was taken off from the attack.

The pair of Captain Mudzengerere and Ndiweni stitched a 30 runs stand post that before Ndiweni was struck right in front to bring the score to 84/6. The Bangladeshi bowlers got two more quick wickets and reduced the home side to 109/8.

However, what followed was a snoozefest and some rearguard from the Zimbabwean batters. Captain Mudzengerere got to his gritty fifty and found support in Shelton Mazvitorera. The pair batted 14 overs together and stitched a 64 runs stand.

They made the Bangladeshi bowlers look clueless. Finally Mudzengerere mistimed one and was dismissed for 70 off 121 balls. Shelton remained not out and the Zimbabwe side was bowled out for 179. The pick of the bowlers for the Bangladesh side was Iqbal Hossain Emmon with 5-24 next to his name.
