Milestone
An absolute clinical performance by the English side. They register a thumping victory by a margin of 65 runs and have advanced to the semifinals. New Zealand's abysmal campaign at this WC comes to an end.

That's it from our live coverage of this game. This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of my colleagues Arjun Bhalla, Akshay Bhide and Vishnu Verma. Cheers.
Thomas Rew (England U19 Captain): "It's a great effort. Really proud of how we struck out with the bat. Mayes and Falconer were brilliant for us with the bat. We were in a good position after the halfway stage, and then seamers bowled exceptionally.

The wicket was assisting the bowlers, especially the spinners, if bowled slower and wider in line. Our seamers were brilliant too, as they bowled at the top of the off for most of the time.

We have adapted really well. Credit goes to the whole team. We knew that it was not 300 pitches, so brilliant from the boys.

He has been great. He has bowled quickly and right on the money. Looking to the semifinal now."
Tom Jones (New Zealand U19 Captain): "(On assessing conditions) Yeah, we thought the pitch was going to play pretty consistently all day. It’s got better throughout what we’ve seen in the tournament. And yeah, I guess it probably just broke up a bit and it became really tricky and went up and down. So, I mean, I guess it was tricky all day.

(On bowling effort) We were really proud of that bowling effort. We asked for our bowlers to go to another level today and we felt they did, and we were always confident. I guess it’s been the story of our campaign that we haven’t quite put it together for long periods with the bat.

(On batters not performing) There’s been a lot of talk about the group having a lot of talent and we know that. I think we want to apply pressure on the bowlers, we just haven’t got our moments right in terms of picking our times to apply it, and then knowing when to absorb that pressure and take a game deep. We’ve sort of been a bit guilty of that at times.

(On their campaign coming to an end) Yeah, we’re obviously not stoked with how our campaign’s gone, but there are so many learnings to take out of it as a group and as individuals. I know there are a lot of guys in that dressing room who have long careers, and that’s what we’re hoping for. Hopefully, they’ve got a lot to take out of what they’ve learned over the last month.

(On enjoying Zimbabwe) Yeah, it’s been amazing. We’ve loved it. Great country."
Time for post-match presentations...
Manny Lumsden (POTM): "It is a lovely, lovely feeling. It is a great feeling to contribute to a win and bag a fifer.

(On how he worked with his plans) I was just trying to keep the stumps in play. The ball was staying a tad bit low (sometimes), so I was trying to keep my line and length in check. I just kept stumps in play and eventually got the rewards.

(On his role in this bowling attack) This role (as a change-up bowler) comes naturally to me. I do the same for my domestic side as well.

(On getting to semis) We have won five games, and all the boys have contributed to them. It has been an amazing run so far in the Group matches and the Super Six, with really good performances from everyone.

(On his relation with the captain) Everyone in the team is very tight and close; it's a good thing. When you get to bowl, you try to contribute and put pressure early on.
Player of the Match: Manny Lumsden
8:00 PM IST, 4:30 PM Local Time: Manny Lumsden wraps up the tail by taking three wickets in an over. He finishes with figures of 5/17 in 6.5 overs as England U19 register a victory by 65 runs against New Zealand U19. Kiwis fail to chase down the target of 235 runs and are all out for 169 inside 39 overs. With this defeat, their hopes of advancing to the knockouts come to an end. England have now advanced to the semi-final.

After being sent in to bat first, England posted a competitive 234 for 7 in their 50 overs, building a challenging total on a wicket that offered variable bounce and assistance for bowlers. The English innings was anchored by measured contributions through the top and middle order.

Ben Mayes scored a half-century while Ben Dawkins scored 42. Caleb Falconer was brilliant at the latter stages of the innings and scored 47 off 58 balls. A notable cameo from Farhan Ahmed, who scored 29 off 23 balls, helped England cross the 230-run mark.

New Zealand’s bowlers found some movement early on, but were unable to sustain pressure throughout the innings. Mason Clarke and Snehith Reddy picked up two wickets each.

Chasing 235 for victory, New Zealand struggled to settle against a disciplined English attack. The Kiwi innings never fully gained momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals.

New Zealand never looked comfortable and unlike England, who had almost a 50-run opening partnership, the Kiwis lost their first wicket with 13 on the board. Suddenly, when things looked to get better, pacer Lumsden came in and took a couple of quick wickets.

The middle overs offered New Zealand a brief hope as a couple of partnerships attempted to steady the innings. However, England’s bowlers refused to release the pressure, using changes of pace and tight field placements to choke the run flow. Every time New Zealand looked set to rebuild, a wicket halted their progress, preventing any sustained momentum in the chase.

As the required run rate continued to climb, New Zealand were forced into riskier strokes. England capitalised, with regular breakthroughs ensuring the asking rate remained well beyond reach.

The spinners played a key role during the middle phase, exploiting the slow nature of the pitch and drawing false shots, while Lumsden returned effectively at the death to clean up the tail. He took three wickets in the 39th over and ended up with a fiver. He will be on a hat-trick in the next game as the final two wickets were taken on consecutive balls.

It is important to mention here that Falconer took two brilliant catches inside the circle off the bowling of seamer Sebastian Morgan.

At 38.5 overs, New Zealand were bowled out for 169, with English bowlers maintaining consistent pressure and exploiting every opportunity to strike.

The victory cemented England’s strong position in the Super Six stage and they have now qualified for the semi-final, along with Australia and Afghanistan. The fourth semi-finalist team will be decided after the result of the India vs Pakistan match on Sunday. For New Zealand, the defeat was a setback and with this, their campaign at this WC comes to an end.
