That’s all from this one-sided contest, folks! For now, it’s me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of co-commentator, Arjun Bhalla, and scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. CHEERS!
Mahedi Hasan (Chattogram Royals Captain): "Yes, thanks to the Almighty for back-to-back wins. Bowlers were brilliant today. We are playing like a complete team. Our middle order hasn't been getting chances from the last four matches; that's a good problem to have. Both pace and spin are doing a fantastic job; they are putting the opposition under the pressure in the powerplay. In the last couple of matches, we have played at used pitches but fortunately, we have been winning the toss."
Mohammad Naim (POTM): (Translated from Bengali) "From the start of the tournament, I’ve focused on sticking to my process and contributing to the team. Batting alongside Rossington makes things easier for me. In the powerplay, I try to play according to the ball, and once I start feeling comfortable in the middle, I back my natural strokes."
Player of the Match: Mohammad Naim
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Sylhet Titans Captain): "First, we lost a couple of wickets inside the powerplay. (On his batting position) I will try my luck as an opener; I got success at the top of the order last season as well. I still feel that we are a really nice team, it's just we haven't been having partnerships at the top of the order. We will look to bounce back."
3:32 PM IST, 4:02 PM Local Time: A comprehensive victory for Chattogram Royals, as they win by 9 wickets with 24 balls to spare, and move to the top of the points table.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Sylhet Titans got off to a horrible start, losing wickets in clusters and slumping to 34/5 inside the powerplay. Parvez Hossain Emon and Azmatullah Omarzai steadied the ship for a while, but the former fell for 17 runs, and the partnership was broken. Omarzai formed a crucial 34-run partnership with Rahatul Ferdous Javed (17*) but failed to bat till the end and fell 6 short of his well-deserved fifty. Nasum Ahmed delivered an unbeaten 13-run cameo of 6 balls and propelled the score to a respectable 126/7 in 20 overs. Mirza Tahir Baig and Mahedi Hasan bagged a couple of wickets each for the Royals, while Shoriful Islam, Mukidul Islam, and Aamir Jamal chipped in with one wicket each. In reply, Mohammad Naim and Adam Rossington got Chattogram Royals off to a flying start, scoring freely from the outset. Naim kick-started the chase with a six, and the pair batted sensibly through the middle overs. The Sylhet Titans bowlers found it hard to make inroads as the opening stand surged past 100, with both batters bringing up their respective half-centuries. However, they were denied a 10-wicket victory as Naim holed out in the deep for 52, with Rahatul Ferdous finally breaking the opening stand — though it came far too late to change the outcome. Rossington remained unbeaten on 73 runs off 53 balls and helped his side cross the line by 9 wickets with 24 balls to spare.
