2:43 PM IST, Local Time: A famous win for Andhra and another poor display from Punjab as they fail to defeat another score north of 200. Andhra chasing 206 in the final over with M Hemanth Reddy scoring an unbeaten 109 adding 155 runs without a dent with SDNV Prasad who hit an unbeaten 53 after a struggling start.
Punjab lost the toss and were invited to bat. Harnoor Singh (42), Anmolpreet Singh (47), Salil Arora (42*) and Ramandeep Singh (43) all got off to brilliant and quick starts to help the side deposit 205/5.
Andhra lost their openers inside the first over as Gurnoor Brar bowled a fiery spell of 3/23. M Hemanth Reddy making his comeback after more than 2 years to the T20 side held one end and kept fetching boundaries here and there.
Nitish Kumar Reddy failed to get off the mark, Ricky Bhui only had 15 to add with Pyla Avinash scoring 13 in 13 balls. SDNV Prasad at number 7 joined Hemanth at the crease but failed to time the ball initially.
Hemanth moved to his 50 in 29 balls and crossed 3 digits in 48 balls with Prasad also timing the ball well as the partnership moved past three figures. With 61 needed in the final 4 overs, the duo hammered Ayush Goyal for 21 in the 17th over and then Ramandeep Singh conceded the same tally in the penultimate one bringing down the equation to a-run-a-ball in the final over delivered by Harpreet Brar.
Besides the Brars - Gurnoor and Harpreet (1/28) no other bowler had an economy rate below 11.75 in another dismal bowling performance from Punjab. Andhra now have their first win of Super League, Punjab lurking at the bottom of the table.
