The D-Day is here in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025/26, with Rajshahi Warriors and Chattogram Royals all set to bag the ultimate silverwareThe final of this extravaganza, named BPL, will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Friday (January 23).

These two teams have already met each other thrice in the competition, with the Royals
bagging the bragging rights twice and the Warriors winning a game once. However, it was Chattogram Royals, who dismantled the Rajshahi Warriors in Qualifier 1 to bag a spot in the finals. Interestingly, whenever these two teams have met, the team batting second has always won the match.

In the Qualifier 1, the Warriors batted first but could only score 133 runs on the board. Despite the top names on their side, the batters failed to leave their mark against the Chattogram bowlers. Tanzid Hasan gave a solid start, but kept losing partners from the other end, and eventually got out on 41 runs. Apart from him, Sahibzada Farhan (21) and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain (32 off 15) scored some
critical runs. However, the Warriors failed against the likes of Mahedi Hasan and Aamir Jamal, who bagged two wickets apiece.

Later in the chase, Mirza Tahir Baig and Mohammad Naim gave a near-perfect opening stand of 64 runs, and then Baig had another good stand with Hasan Nawaz. For Rajshahi, Saqlain (2/20) bowled an impressive spell in the middle overs, but the game was long gone by then. Eventually, skipper Mahedi Hasan finished off the game during his nine-ball 19* blitz.

After swallowing the hard pill in Qualifier 1, the Warriors played the Sylhet Titans in Qualifier 2. In that fixture, the top three - Sahibzada (26), Tanzid (32) and Kane Williamson (45 not out) scored match-turning runs as they batted first. However, Jimmy Neesham was the one to provide finishing touches to the innings. His 44 off 26 balls were vital in helping Rajshahi reach 165/9.

Defending the par score, the Lankan import, Binura Fernando, was spellbinding with both new and older cherry. He bagged a total of four wickets, while the trio of Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Md Rubel and Saqlain bagged one wicket each. As a result, they restricted the opposition by 12 runs to bag a seat in the finals.

Now, who will beat whom to earn the bragging rights for the season - Rajshahi Warriors or Chattogram Royals? To know that, join us sharp at 4:30 PM IST (5 PM Local Time) on Friday.
