Finally, the curtain comes down on Bangladesh Premier League Season 12. The tournament began on Boxing Day last year, and after 34 action-packed matches, it concludes tonight in memorable fashion. In the end, it’s the Rajshahi Warriors who have their hands on the trophy, crowned champions of BPL Season 12 after a remarkable campaign.
It’s a special moment as even the veteran Kane Williamson now has a T20 title to his name, having joined the side just a few days ago and going on to lift the trophy. It’s also a first T20 crown for Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain, and his captaincy on the night was nothing short of outstanding.
The celebrations will roll on through the night for the Warriors, and on that joyous note, it’s time for us to take your leave. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal who, along with scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Asraj Khan & statistician Aman brought all the updates of this cracking grand finale. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
Najmul Hossain Shanto now walks up to the podium to collect the winners’ trophy and is soon joined by his teammates. The celebrations erupt all around as Rajshahi Warriors are crowned the CHAMPIONS of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025/26!
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Rajshahi Warriors Captain):"Thank you so much. Very happy with the way we played. Specially all the plays fought in a way and that made really happy. We are happy to finish on a high note.
Obviously Tanzid and Binura has been outstanding. Really happy the way Ripon bowled. Everybody some of the batters took the responsibility. Before this match we had a meeting and told all of them to stay positive. Toss was not a factor because in Mirpur anything can happen. We knew if we put up anything decent total. 150 or over was defendable. Credit goes to Tanzid and Farhan for the way they batted.
(On Kane Williamson) Thanks to him for coming. The way he batted in last two games showed his experience. Jimmy Neesham took the responsibilities both on the field and off the field.
(On his son's name being asked) His name is Izhan Malik Araf.
The champions, Rajshahi Warriors' players are coming one by one to collect their champions medals.
Mahedi Hasan (Chattogram Royals Captain): "Well, today's wicket was simply outstanding but we couldn't do our job. Our batters in the last couple of matches failed to perform well. That's why we struggled to score runs. We have really good bowlers in the team. Throughout the tournament our bowlers did an outstanding job.
After Rossington's injury, we failed to score runs at the top of the order. We always struggled inside the powerplay.
The surface today was simply outstanding. The surface was not good in the last two games but today it was outstanding. That's why Tamim scored a hundred. Congratulations to Rajshahi. They deserved it.
(How was the tournament overall?) Well, you know, we didn't have many big name overseas players in the team. We had local overseas players. We tried our level best. Our local players are outstanding and that's why we made it to the Final.
(On Shoriful Islam) Shoriful was simply outstanding. He delivered for the team with the new ball and also with the old team. Also, Tanvir Islam was outstanding. I did a good job and Aamir Jamal also did a good job for the team."

Shoriful Islam (Player of the Tournament):"I am feeling good. It feels good to be player of the tournament and highest wicket taker but it would have been more ecstatic had we won the tournament. We have tried but couldn't become the champions. I am sorry to all of you. You guys have shown some support for us. Thanks goes to the coaching staff too.
Everyday will not be the same. What is gone is gone. We have fought well and came to the final. The final didn't go our way unfortunately."
