Another close encounter witnessed in BPL today. Chattogram Royals are now going to play the final. However, their opponent will be decided after the Qualifier 2 game between Rajshahi Warriors and Sylhet Titans, set to take place on Wednesday.

That's it from our live coverage of this game. This is Mohammad Anab signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal and our scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Cheers.
Mahedi Hasan (POTM and Chattogram Royals Captain): "First of all, thanks to almighty, we’ve reached the final. That’s why our guys are really confident. Today, our bowling was outstanding, and we executed our plans very well.

(On side's batting) Yes. The boys batted very sincerely at the top order. Naim Sheikh and Tahir Baig laid the foundation. Especially Naim played a very important role because, as you mentioned, it wasn’t an easy wicket to bat on. He gave us the start we needed, and since we weren’t chasing a very big total. That start made the difference and helped us win the game.

(On low score chase getting tricky) Definitely. You know, even in the last match it was low-scoring, and in such games anything can happen. The lower-ranked team can always be dangerous. So our plan was simple—ball by ball, no problem, no pressure. Just play each ball on its merit. We had wickets in hand, and we were confident we would win. That’s how we won this match.

(On his own performance) It’s my job. In any situation, I try to handle it. Whether it works or not, right or wrong, I don’t know, but I always try my level best. So far, it’s been going well."

Time for post-match presentations...
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Rajshahi Warriors Captain): "Very happy the way we bowled and fielded. Credit to their batters too. I think 133 is not enough, we were 15-20 runs short.

Obviously we all knew that there will be difficulty in the wicket. We should've played some good cricketing shots and get the partnerships but failed to manage to do that.

We have the opportunity to improve. As a batting unit we have to manage to put up the required partnerships. A few 50-60 run partnerships can do it for us. We have to take the responsibility together."
9:12 PM IST, 9:42 PM Local Time: Another nail-biting thriller witnessed today in BPL. Chattogram Royals have won Qualifier 1 by six wickets with three balls to spare. Skipper Mahedi Hasan does the job for his team in the final over. Rajshahi Warriors lose this game but they will get another shot to play the final as they will play Qualifier 2 tomorrow against the Sylhet Titans.

After winning the toss, the Royals opted to bowl first and were rewarded as Rajshahi were bowled out for 133 in 19.4 overs, never quite finding sustained momentum on a surface offering enough assistance for the bowlers. Rajshahi’s innings revolved around Tanzid Hasan, who top-scored with a measured 41, while Sahibzada Farhan added 21 at the top.

However, regular wickets stalled progress through the middle overs. A late counter-attack from Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who struck a brisk 32 off 15 balls, lifted the total past 130, but the lack of partnerships proved costly.

Every bowler of the Royals picked up at least a wicket, however, the best of them were Mahedi Hasan and Aamir Jamal.

In reply, Chattogram Royals approached the chase with caution and clarity. Openers Mohammad Naim and Mirza Tahir Baig laid a steady foundation. Baig (45) played the anchor role with a composed knock, while Naim (30) rotated the strike effectively to keep the pressure on the Warriors’ bowlers. The openers added 64 runs for the first wicket.

However, one problem with their partnership was that they were very defensive in their approach. It is clear from the fact that the side crossed the 50-run mark only after the end of the 10th over. This kept Warriors in the game. Saqlain gave his side the first breakthrough and then the other bowlers also chipped in.

Saqlain then bowled an excellent 18th over to bring his side back in the game. However, Royals skipper Mahedi Hasan scored a crucial 19* off 9 balls to help his side cross the line. With 9 needed of the final over, Hasan hit a six on the second ball of the over to ensure that the match doesn't go down to the final ball.

Except Ripon Mondol, every Warriors' bowler bowled well. However, the pick of the bowler was Saqlain, who also did an excellent job with the bat, taking 2/20.

2 Captain fantastic has done it for the Chattogram Royals. Mahedi Hasan-led Royals have qualified for the grand finale of the Bangladesh Premier League 2025/26. A low full toss at the pads from Ripon. Another error in line. Mahedi flicks this one through the fine leg region. Deep fine leg fielder runs and tumbles to his right to half stop it. Mahedi takes the second run and the Royals' cricketer rush in towards the skipper and congratulates him. Rajshahi Warriors will get another bite on the cherry as they will face the Sylhet Titans in the second qualifier tomorrow.
