That's all from this low-scoring contest, folks! Time to conclude this coverage. For now, it's me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of scorer/analyst Sachin Yadav. See you soon!
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Rajshahi Warriors Captain): "To be very honest, as a team and as captain, we donāt want to be in that (tense) situation, but the most important thing is that we finished the match and got the win, which is a positive. Iām really happy with the way Mushfiqur and Akbar batted and saw the game through. Obviously, we would prefer not to play extra matchesāwe want to win the next one and go straight to the finalābut we have to trust the process and execute our plans well. Iām pleased with how we wrapped up our league matches. If you look at the conditions here, thereās quite a bit of extra bounce, so the key is to play proper cricketing shots rather than anything fancy. Itās about sticking to the basics, following the process, and not worrying too much about the outcome. We did lose a couple of early wickets again, which has been a concern, but the way Mushfiqur and Akbar handled the situation was excellent. They were calm, composed, and executed their plans according to the match situation. Thatās exactly what we want from our middle order, and Iām really happy they finished the job today."
Akbar Ali (POTM): "All the communication between us was about building a 50ā60 run partnership since the target wasnāt big. The wicket was coming on nicely, and the idea was to play with a straight bat. There wasnāt much turn on offer, so I backed myself to clear the ropes when needed. This is my first Man of the Match award in the BPL, so itās a really special moment for me."
Player of the Match: Akbar Ali
Mahedi Hasan (Chattogram Royals Captain): "We were one pace bowler short, which hurt us on a surface that behaved more like a red-ball pitch. There was some dew later on, but the absence of an extra seamer was a key factor. That said, the way we fought in a low-scoring game was a real positive for us."
9:10 PM IST, 9:40 PM Local Time: A crucial 84-run partnership between Mushfiqur Rahim and Akbar Ali rescued Rajshahi Warriors from a tricky position and guided them safely over the line. The Warriors move to the top of the points table with this win.
Earlier, Rajshahi Warriors produced a clinical bowling performance to dismiss Chattogram Royals for just 125 in 19.5 overs. The Royals lost early wickets and struggled to build momentum despite small contributions from Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Hasan Nawaz. Asif Ali provided the only real resistance with a quick 39, adding a brief late stand to push the total past 120. Tanzim Hasan Sakib starred with four wickets, well supported by Ryan Burl and Jahandad Khan. The chase got off to a disastrous start as Rajshahi slumped to 40/4 inside nine overs, losing wickets at regular intervals and struggling to keep the scoring rate above five, with the required rate steadily climbing towards eight an over. The match swung dramatically on the back of a decisive 84-run partnership between Mushfiqur Rahim and Akbar Ali. Rahim held the innings together with a calm 46* off 42 balls, while Akbar changed the complexion of the game with a counter-attacking 48 off 40 deliveries.
The turning point came when Akbar smashed a hat-trick of sixes off Mahedi Hasan, instantly shifting momentum back in Rajshahiās favour. Their stand rescued the Warriors from a precarious position and put them firmly in control. Although a couple of late wickets fell, Rajshahi held their nerve to cross the line with three balls to spare.
Despite defending a modest total, the Chattogram Royalsā bowlers put in a spirited effort and made Rajshahi Warriors work hard for their runs. Shoriful Islam led the attack with the new ball, striking early to remove both openers and keeping the scoring in check during the powerplay. He ended with three wickets to his name. Mahedi Hasan chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Abu Hider Rony celebrated a solitary wicket.
