It turned out to be a run-fest in Dhaka. Both teams struggled against the moving ball, but Rangpur Riders just about managed to get over the line, winning by 11 runs in the end. Mohammad Saifuddin and Imad Wasim gave them a late scare, but the Riders held their nerve.

Litton Das (Rangpur Riders Captain):"Thank you very much. I feel 150-160 was a good score batting first, but the way Malan batted things became easier. Batting became easier in the second innings.
The powerplay and the opening partnership allowed us to go big in the later part. Openers batted really well and Mayers also did well. A bowler like Nahid can get more success whenever he hits hard length.
Very pleased but we have to do better in a couple of areas as a whole unit."
Dawid Malan (POTM): "(On his own knock) Didn't feel like a good knock in my first 10-12 balls, I was ready to retire myself and walk off. But managed to find a way and ended up getting a good score on that wicket.
(On the slow start) I think it is always taking a risk to put pressure back on the bowler. The first couple of overs, we sort of let them bowl to us. Then the scoreboard dictated that we needed to take a risk, generally you wanted to take that risk in 5th and 6th over, so with the start that we had, we are looking to target someone and put the pressure back on them.
(On 2 points) Yeah, we needed that. We got a really good team but just haven't been able to put it together yet as a group. We have a good record here in Dhaka and hopefully, we can carry on."
Player of the Match: Dawid Malan
Time for the post-match presentation...
Mohammad Mithun (Dhaka Capitals Captain): "Actually, I feel it is a good toss to win. The ball moved a lot in the first 8-7 overs. But we didn't bowl well in that period. After that, they had set batters and we bowled some expensive overs. I didn't feel it was a 180 wicket, it was at max a 150 wicket and that's what cost us dearly.
(On missed catches) Yeah, definitely. I feel that throughout the tournament, our fielding has been poor. You can't miss too many catches in such games. Not just this game, before also we have lost a few games because of fielding.
(On Saifuddin's batting) Yeah, Saifuddin played really well but I feel Nahid Rana made a difference, he bowled really well and we lost the game there."
4:11 PM IST and 4:41 PM Local Time: Mohammad Saifuddin's valiant innings went in vain as the Rangpur Riders secure a 11-run victory over Dhaka Capitals and make it to the play-off. The lack of support from the rest of the Capitals' batters made it tough for them and eventually they bite the dust.
On a grassy deck, Dawid Malan and Towhid Hridoy decided to take their time. They missed a few in the first four overs but after the threat got nullified, they went hammer and tongs at the bowlers. Malan took 17 off the fifth over bowled by Maruf Mridha and that was the start of the blitzkrieg. The opening pair of Rangpur Riders added 126 runs from 85 balls and that put them ahead in the contest. Dawid Malan hit 8 fours and 4 maximums to score 78 runs off 49 balls before getting dismissed by Taskin Ahmed. Towhid Hridoy, his fellow opener also got to his fifty and scored 62 from 46 balls with 5 boundaries and 4 maximums.
Kyle Mayers' cameo off 24 runs from 16 balls with a boundary and a couple of maximums took the score to 181/4 for the Riders. Saifuddin bowled a brilliant final over and removed Mayers and Litton Das in that over.
Usman Khan, the Dhaka Capitals' opener was in a different mood when he came to chase in pursuit of the 182-run target. He took 17 from the first over but his progress halted a bit when his partner Abdullah Al Mamun got out for a golden duck. He was then joined by Saif Hassan who got off the mark with a maximum. They together added 26 off 13 balls but in the final ball of the fourth over, Faheem Ashraf removed Usman Khan for 31. Nahid Rana came to bowl the very next over and got the wicket of Saif Hassan in the first ball.
Nahid Rana was the barrier between Dhaka Capitals and the victory. He used his pace and bowled in good lines to restrict the batters from playing their shots. He bowled a sensational spell of 3/11 from his 4 overs. The big wickets of Saif Hassan, Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Mithun went to his tally and that derailed the Capitals' middle-order.
Mohammad Saifuddin decided to not give up. He kept hitting whenever he got anything loose. His partnership with Imad Wasim added 48 runs off 29 balls for the 7th wicket before Wasim got out for 20. When 31 was needed off the final over, he smacked Rakibul for three maximums to take 19 from it and his team fell 12 runs short of the target. Saifuddin remained unbeaten on 58 off 30 balls hitting 4 boundaries and 5 sixes.
Barring Nahid Rana, Faheem Ashraf shone with the ball. He picked up 2 wickets for 43 runs. Mustafizur Rahman and Rakibul Hasan took a wicket each.
